Re: Pitt/Utes
Why is it a bad idea to have a playoff? Schools like Auburn and Utah and many schools from previous years get to settle the issue on the field, not by rankings. Can you imagine how boring college basketball would be if they used the BCS?

Im sure the BCS would have placed Duke and UCONN in the NC game last year, and that was the right thing to do. But you're right, why not have a December Maddness for football?

I think you'r right in the fact that the BCS would have placed UConn and Duke in the finals, but the problem is that Georgia Tech was in the finals instead of Duke. Plus it gave a team like St. Joseph's a shot at the title. Even though they didn't win, they showed they belonged....just missing a final four berth by 2 points.

A playoff is the right idea. Auburn and Utah remain undefeated by winning their bowl games, and USC is the national champion because Oklahoma had a bad day against a very good team. I'd like to see the Trojans pull that stunt on the Auburn Tigers.
As far as Pitt, rules may be rules, but any number of non BCS teams could have given Utah a better game than Pitt did.

the only reason they don't have december madness is the colleges want the players minds on learning not just football the bcs ensures that one team doesn;t have 4 extra weeks of playoff games before a national championship. which has them all worried abt.

As far as Pitt making it to a BCS bowl, again rules are rules. Just like Conemaugh Twp and North Star making it to the high school playoffs with LOSING records. Meanwhile 6-3 teams like Ferndale sat home. But that's the way it is, like it or not.
