Re: Evolution
freak man...just because you rigorously studied something for a whole 2-3 years doesn't make you an expert....the scientists that have been studying this stuff their whole lives...we're talking in excess of 40 years....they're the experts. I don't take everything they say as the word of God but when it comes down to them vs you....i'll take the more experienced.
The Bible is not the most sound book on the face of the planet...prove to me everything in the Bible is true and i'll take it as fact...otherwise it's a merely something you believe in.
The fact is...and count summarized this pretty well...unless you can PROVE something to be true....it's an opinion, a belief. You can't prove to me that the Bible is the word of God and that everything in it is true...therefore it's your opinion. It's an opinion shared by many, but still an opinion nonetheless.
As for evolution...contrary to what you may think we can prove evolution. We can prove that species have evolved into new species to better adapt to their environment. Read up on genetic drift and we can prove that at times species evolve in a way that doesn't make sense...in a way that doesn't better them for their habitat. Either way we can prove evolution does exist. If you think we can't then you need to gain a better understanding of what evolution is...you're looking at adaptation and evolution as polar opposites when in reality they're not that different.
If you'd like to dispute evolution anymore please provide reasons on why God screwed up when creating Adam and Eve, for example...
Why do we have an appendix? An appendix is used to digest the cellulose found in grasses. In the human body it's a useless organ, that is, it has no function.
Why do we have a tailbone if we never had a tail? It has little to do with "holding your poopshoot together" as someone suggested earlier. In early stages of human life, during embryonic development, humans have tails. This is a fact...it's only present for a short time but it is most definitely a tail.
Why do we have "wisdom teeth?" In now extinct species it's believed to have aided in the grinding of plant tissue. It worked back then because our ancestors had larger jaws and heads. Now, with our smaller jaws and heads, they no longer fit. Our wisdom teeth come in and we have them removed...if God designed us specifically then this must have been an oversight.
Why do we get goose bumps when we're scared or stressed? Many species are known to raise their hair on end when they're scared or stressed in an effort to look bigger. Maybe God thought we might need this someday...
Why do we have muscles in our ears that allow for movement? Monkeys have trouble moving their necks on a horizontal plane and studies have shown that moveable ears allows them to better hear potential threats. Humans of course can move their necks horizontally which is why those muscles in our ears are underdeveloped and we can't move our ears...yet the muscles are still there. If God originally planned for us to never be able to move our ears then why put muscles in place that allow for it? Must be another oops...
I could go on and on...there are many more....the whales discussed earlier, there is a gene in the Human genome that was once used to produce a vitamin C-enzyme and it is now proven to do absolutely nothing...so why's it there? Cavefish have eyes but they can't see...what are they doing with eyes then? Lobsters move through the water with the help of tails...crabs also have tails but don't use them. Female gypsy moths have wings but can't fly.
I'll stop with the science lesson for now...the point is evolution does happen and until you can come up with facts to dispute it you're preaching to the wrong choir.

lol..."science can't prove anything"
and that ladies and gents is why this argument needs to stop here. This man says science can't prove anything...

oh and uh, no offense, but you never said anything up there^^, that proved evolution... all you proved is that animals and humans adapt... the unused muscles and bones is from adaption... not evolution...
but just for the sake of argumentation.... where are the missing links??

What are you even talking about here??? Where are the missing links? Do you want dates because i'm not an archeologist?futbolfrk91 wrote:all right.. if you want to prove evolution... then answer these questions in an orderly fashion... and i'll listen..
if evolution is true, then where are all the "missing links" in the fossil record???
Your questions are idiotic but i'll do my best to answer what I think you meant to ask...Life began when God created it. God had a really good idea when he did so...he said to himself, I could go to a lot of trouble and make every species seperatly....or, I could make a few and let them evolve in to other lifeforms.futbolfrk91 wrote:if it is true, how did life first begin?
Remember we're back in the grounds of the unknown...this is what I believe, this in no way has anything to do with scientific evidence.
That's easy... I believe in God and I don't believe in the shmuck that wrote Genesis 1 for you to read. I promise you this, if God comes to my house and tells me how it is, i'll believe him........but some book that a couple guys wrote because they felt they had divine intervention...not gonna work. If I wrote a book tomorrow talking about what Stalin really felt during his days in the USSR because I said he spoke to me in a dream...do you think anyone will believe it? You'll all call me crazy...Bob the builder and Archie the architect that wrote The Book of genious isn't enough.futbolfrk91 wrote:if you believe God did it, then how do you explain genesis 1??
"that's complete crap"....this is coming from a teenager having done no scientific research and merely believing everything he reads in the funny papers. Listen buddy, the Onion isn't a reliable source to get your news from.futbolfrk91 wrote:if it is true, then what evidence is there to support it... you can't use miller's experiments, haekel's embryos, or the moth and finch whatnot... that's complete crap.
As for your last post...the scientific method is a bit more complex than that....however, basically what you're saying is science can't prove anything because someday sometime someone might find something that proves otherwise...therefore there are no truths in our world. Water doesn't boil at 100 degrees celsius and splicing 2 hydrogen atoms and an oxygen atom won't get you water...
