I've said it before and I'll say it again,I don't see ridge or central going LHAC.They make you go in all sports and it won't work.Too much travel and alot more costs for the schools. Now if they change the allsports thing maybe then.

usatf - you can say it as many times as you like, it won't change the fact that both will be members of the LHAC in 2012 in all sports. Money and travel are not issues, as both schools are former LHAC members. Also, Chestnut Ridge has had enough with the "independent" status. At this point, they would have joined a league in Maryland if it would have given them a full schedule of contests.

VAD1 wrote:Ligonier Valley will NEVER be accepted into the LHAC - they blew their chance by asking "what can the LHAC do for us". I expect to see LV remain in the Heritage until they're booted out (not saying that will happen). The next two teams to enter the LHAC will be Chestnut Ridge and Central. Also, Leechburg has already made it clear they want in the Heritage, but the WPIAL said NO. Why would the WPIAL let them go? It would create 8 openings in the schedules of the teams who already have them on their 2011 schedule. The Heritage had a chance to make their football schedules better by getting into an agreement with the Westpac. No, the Westpac is not great, but there are some good teams in there (Portage, Conemaugh Township, Windber, another team that's on a good run of kids). The Heritage told the Westpac thanks but no thanks because they thought Leechburg was coming in. Now they all have an open date next year and maybe for years to come. Other than Saltsburg (picked up Shade) and United (picked up Ferndale), the rest of the conference will struggle to find a beatable opponent.
Central? Really? Doubt it. The MAC just became all-sports, it's got bigger schools and less travel time rather than driving all over the place to get to LHAC games. Don't count on it. Chestnut Ridge burned a lot of bridges in the past with the ICC and the MAC-- they can't afford to do any more damage if they get into a conference and then decide it's not a good fit.

Heritage conference --- well, I'm not surprised. I thought that they should have combined with the WestPAC and formed two divisions akin to the Mid-Penn out in D3. Didn't happen, and I guess it's not going to. Oh well. It will hurt come playoff time.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

...Hopefully all had a great Holiday! Sorry for not getting on here the past week or so, been away from work and the laptop is down...

"You lost me with this. You keep switching between 'Class B' and 5A. Do you mean 1A (130 and below), 2A, 3A, 4A, and 5A? I also don't understand what you mean by a 1-7 team moving on. That just doesn't seem plausible (Although, last year Old Forge (10-0) lost to a 3-7 Riverside team.), and what would be the purpose of multiple classification leagues other than strength of schedule rankings?"

Sorry Ghost you are correct I mean 1A being 130 and below, I just call it "Class B" because it would be "irritating" to say or spell out 5A or 6A (AAAAA or AAAAAA), lol too many A's...I would like 5 classes. I know there can be a big difference in 4A between school sizes but once you get up too 600 boys I think you can find a good group of 22 vs. another school with 600 more...

In the WPIAL and D 5/6 (not considering those who play up) it would look like this to me (Again I will use Class B for lowest class instead of adding another "A".

A lot of good work on numbers, but do they reflect the co-ops like Meyersdale/Sailsbury; Shade/Shanksville; Rookwood/Turkeyfoot? I also would like 5 or 6 classes but I doubt we will every see that happen.

I am not sure Sir if they reflect the co ops,I got the numbers off the PIAA website and I think they will look different for the upcoming year...I think in single we will see some more teams drop, at least in the WPIAL.

I'm not trying to insult you, but have you been paying attention to Ridge for the past 4 years?

I completely agree with you that Ridge is not having any problems scheduling other sports, but football is the tail that wags the dog. Ridge needed a football schedule for next year BADLY and it's a good thing the Heritage chose not to get into an agreement with the Westpac. Had this happened, Ridge would be looking at 6 holes on their varsity football schedule for next season. The move for Ridge to get into a conference is 100% football-based. They would have been in the LHAC already if LV had made application to the league. Central and CR to the LHAC in 2012 - you heard it here first.

I'll admit, I haven't been really paying attention to this topic. Been trying to figure out if I want to drive down to Imperial, PA to watch the Brockway/South Fayette game. Hopefully Brockway will give them a game.

Good work on the numbers Ike, but looking at the schools in class B of the WPIAL, whew! Some of those would be asked to play up 1 or 2 classes for sure. Rochester, Clairton, Serra, Monessen, and North Catholic have all been excellent for the past few years.

VAD1, what would be the benefit of Central leaving the MAC and rejoining the LHAC? Both leagues have 12 schools already. Heck, look at the AA bracket this past year -- 3/4 semifinalists were from the MAC.
