None of the good players to ever play at Bedford played for the Bedford travel team. Most went to Hollidaysburg/Altoona while others went to Johnstown. I played for Bedfords club team for one year and we got killed... so I jumped ship to play for a Classic level team out of the Hollidaysburg area. Call me a traitor but I was more interested in making myself a better player then losing games.

im hurt oneandonly. i consider myself a good player as far as our school i concerned and i was a bedford blast lifer.

i agree that the blast team you played on was terrible tho. that may have been the worst team i have played for in the past 7 yrs excluding the intramural team i am on right now.

the blast had a few solid seasons. i think one year in the spring when we had all the guys in the class ahead of us, we went undefeated w/ a tie against loch haven. that is the exception tho. quite possibly the best bedford county club soccer team of all time

if you are a soccer player in the middle school years reading this and you want to become a better soccer player, get on a team outside of the county w/ a cpl of your buddies. there just arent enough good players and good coaches in the county to support that kind of competition. yet...

i played for the bedford county soccer club for a year, but when our coach told us the best way to kick a ball was with ur toes, i walked out and never went back, i then went up to jtown and played for a darn good team...mostly bishop mccort and a few richland guys in there.

What keeps a real good team from being formed in Bedford County?

lack of dedication and knowledge....very few people that know what theyre doing are willing to put in the time. the people that do dedicate themselves to a team arent exactly mr. or mrs. soccer...basically just a devoted fan that wants to give back to the kids in all honesty

What keeps the soccer savvy adults from wanting to make the commitment to coach?

lack of understanding for todays youth. face it, parents stereotype todays kids severely and the kids that do want to play sports arent getting a "fair trial" becuase of it. people look at todays kids as hulligans with no respect and dont think that they are worth the extra time.

These teams that have parents for coaches are usually not as good as they could be and its because of poor training so they usually go elsewhere to play.
The club teams that dont`t have parents for coaches are usually better off for it.
Also, as for kids today some of them are a lot worse than they used to be but the kids are unfairly lumped into one group by a lot of adults and if given good people to follow most kids are not that bad.

So answer this.

In all of Bedford County, there isnt a single adult. WHo has a quality understanding of the game of soccer, who is not necessarily a parent of a player, who has some ability to coach, and would be willing to dedicate some time to coaching a competitive travel soccer team?

I find that hard to believe?
