Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Friday Oct 7: Earlier this week, coach Joe Paterno told several recruits scheduled for official visits this weekend that their trips had been cancelled. Paterno believes that he and his fellow coaches wouldn't be able to devote necessary time to the recruits. Penn State will attempt to reschedule the recruit's trips, if the players agree...... Is this guy insane?????? What would be a bigger recruiting tool than having these kids show up at Beaver Stadium for the Ohio State game, the first night game there in 3 years? What an opportunity missed. Maybe some other weekend JoePa can take them to the Library, and then to the Creamery. One scoop or two??

Moldo, I agree, that is a big missed opportunity. Penn State may not win, but a good showing against Ohio State and treating the recruits to the biggest game of the season would be a big plus. Apk, I'd take your bet, but what am I gonna do with 1100 points? I don't even use the ones I have now.

Is it a missed opportunity? Texas invited Adrian Peterson to the UT - OU game 2 years ago. That was the game OU won by about 70 points.
Peterson went to OU.

In that case, does JoePa really think PSU is gonna lose, and scare these guys away?

Well, it is if PSU plays well. If they don't, maybe it's better not to have them around. But it seems some guys wanna play for JoePa, and if the team's good, well, all the better.

I hope PSU wins by 14, but I don't see it happening. I would almost guarantee deliverance that OSU doesn't win by 14 either. This game will be decided by 10 points or less. The defenses are the strongholds of both groups.

It is amazing to me how off some of you are in analyzing the two teams.
First, there is no way Michael Robinson is a better QB than Troy Smith. Troy Smith has led the team to wins against Michigan and Iowa. In each of those games he ran for over 100 yards and passed for 200. Robinson has never played well in a big game (and no, Minnesota and their porous defense doesn't count).
Second, OSU's receivers have proven themselves against some good competition. Holmes is one of the best receivers in the country. Ginn is the most explosive player outside of Reggie Bush. Gonzales is a great thrid receiver.
Third, PSU's defensive line is not definitely better than OSU's. Did you watch the Texas game? Texas was supposed to have the best OL in the country and Vince Young had to scramble on almost every pass play.
Finally, I will give you PSU's corners over OSU's. Zemaitis and Youboty are about even and Phillips is probably better than Everett. However, OSU's safeties are better than PSU's Lowery and Harrell are good, but Salley and Whitner might be the best safety combo in the country.
We will find out tonight. The one thing I wonder about with PSU is how they will respond to being hit by a team that can really hit. Hawk, Carpenter, Salley and Whitner are all big time hitters. Vince Young commented after the game about how hard the OSU defense hit in the Texas game. I also wonder how OSU will respond on the road under the lights. It should be a great game.
OSU 20 - PSU 17

"Ted Ginn, Ted Ginn, Ted Ginn."
Don't include him as a weapon unless you are gonna get him the ball. That kid is totally wasted.
