yes skoner might have done well in the COLT league. If you are from anywhere but johnstown...colt league means almost nothing. Up here on the mountain (ebensburg, patton, carrolltown, hastings) legion is the thing. Most people believe legion is better because it draws from more of an area and has better competiton because of the higher age. college kids come back and play. Colt league teams may be allstar teams of 15-16 year olds but legion has 17-18 year olds and even a few 19 year olds.

by the way, i hear skoner is playing legion this year.

Those are some powerhouse legion teams you mentioned there fan4.

In fact, I heard a rumor a few years back that a Colt team scrimmaged one of those above mentioned legion teams. The Colt team hit with wood, the legion team with Aluminum...and the Colt team won by a convincing margin.

The COLT League in Johnstown has alot of nice ballplayers and the top teams in that league would fare well against the Legion teams you mentioned, even though they are only 15-16.
And OG, I was at one of those scrimmages not too long ago and what you say is a fact.

I was also at one of those games that were played against the legion team. Not only did the Colt team kill the Legion team, but that Colt team ended up getting second place overall during the season and third in playoffs, so if you think legion is better than Colt, your insane. Now granted there are most definately a few players in legion that are better, there would have to be. And as far as college kids coming back to play legion, if your only good enough to be in college and play baseball in legion when you come back, it might be time to look into some softball.

True kid, Jeff Rolla, who plays for UPJ, did play legion last summer for St. Michael.

yea fan4 that is true jeff rolla did play in leagion last year but that also must mean hes not too good since he played there instead of AAABA.

There have been many good players in the AAABA that have played college ball at UPJ. Casey Long, Rick Baxter, Justin Ronan, Adam Fairman...ect.

BTW...Jeff Rolla has multiple offers to play in the AAABA league last season, however, he chose to play with his friends and play Legion ball last season knowing that he wasn't planning on playing at UPJ this year.

You are knocking a kid who:
1) led his team (major leadership role) to a AAA D6 title in 2005
2) led St. Micheal's legion to a regional championship game last season.

There are far worse players in this area...by far. Just because the kid chose to play legion at 19 doesn't make him bad.

90% of H.S. Players in this area couldn't hold Mr. Rolla's jock strap...get a clue.

Not to get off subject here guys but what the heck happened to that Mehall kid from FH a few years back? I thought the kid had somewhat of a successful high school career and I have yet to hear about him since. I was just seeing if he decided to throw in the towel for College and AAABA or what exactly happened. He had somewhat of a decent arm back when I used to watch him pitch a few years ago.

James Mehall suffered a Tommy John's injury last fall. He has begun throwing again, but usually it takes 2 full years to come back from that injury...

Most players never fully recover.
