Have read a lot of Clancy books though none in years. Vietnam wasn't of strategic importance to us thus the middle east is right now. We don't want to win the war in Afghant. too many corporations making money (MIC) off the war. The Chinese showdown is inevitable...lebensraum...they need more land and resources...Russia has them and we will become close to Russia to contain China. Heck with Brazil. We have plenty of energy resources in the US right now that we wouldn't have to import one drop of oil from anywhere. Politics as usual is mucking that up.
