WPIAL~Titan wrote:FYI, from a statewide perspective, I think that WPIAL basketball isn't very good, particularly in AAAA and AAA (except for Chartiers Valley, who I am waiting for to get exposed because they are so one dimensional)...Basketball pretty good in AA, and average in A. Take away the private schools in WPIAL class A, and the basektball stinks here too.

Take a look at the record of District 5 and 6 boys' teams over the past 10 years in the PIAA playoffs, then take a look at the WPIAL and how they fared...The WPIAL is much better winning %age wise. That said, Districts 1 (suburban Philly) and District 3 (Central PA...Harrisburg/Lancaster/Reading/York areas) are clearly the superior districts when it comes to performance in the PIAA playoffs.

Titan, why do you think the d6 boys teams struggle so much against d7 and the rest of the state when the girls don't. Wouldn't you think that by now that boys bball would be catching up to statewide level. I think the d6 girls A/AA teams are something like 25-10 against the WPIAL over the last few years. Now I did think the BG boys were legit contenders last year for a state title but unfortunately lost a big lead late.

I agree withyou on the philly thing titan. They will own basketball in PA now that the privates are in.I don't necessarily agree on the chester deal though.Kids in district 5 and 6 are ridiculed too much for supposed lack of competition.I personally believe an allstar team from district 5 and 6 with the right coach could do very well in the state 3 or 4 out of every 10 years.Let's remember quite a few NBAers came from this area. One left for your alma mater but thats a different story!

Shaler won their own tournament, finishing their frosh season unbeaten, with their closest game being a 19 point win over Butler.

I guess the Trojans and Titans will never meet, unless Coach Roman wants to arrange a JoePa like deal for varsity games in the coming years with Shaler...I am sure I could arrange for the Titans to host Jtown 10 times for every Titan visit to the All-American City...

Here's a noteworthy thing that happened in the frosh tournament: The Titans frosh team scored 103 points in 28 minutes against Upper Saint Clair, including 32 points in the 2nd quarter. Their top scorer had 39 points. Shaler had 3 dunks.

Thats fine but we have three kids that dunk the ball in games with ease and the people from Hollidaysburg said they never heard of Shalers frosh team which was Johnstown closest game winning by 21. Oh....Johnstowns freshman avg. 80 pts a game with a running clock.
