Wow, you guys really are clueless about college football.
No, you are. All the sudden you act like Texas is on such a higher level than Penn State. What leads you to think this? You base this on nothing but the fact that in 2005 Texas won the national championship. Everyone on that team graduated so that is in the same past as every national title Penn State has. Not to mention Penn State was pretty dang good in '05 and along with last season. Penn State and Texas were very, very comparable last year. Penn State won their conference and Texas won their bowl (team Penn State also beat last year in the 'Shoe).

Mark Schlabach, ESPN.com: I'm all for tradition, but I like programs who have accomplished something after I graduated from high school. The Nittany Lions have won the Big Ten two times during the BCS era. Kentucky would have won it three times.
Kentucky would not have won 1 Big Ten title in that time. Schlabach is a *******.

Texas has finished the season ranked higher than PSU every year since 1999.

That's not true. Jordan Shipley was on that 2005 team.

Well, maybe you should have done some research before you ran your mouth. Don't forget that Colt McCoy was redshirting that season, too, so he was on the sideline learning that year. PSU is close to being on the same level as Texas, but I don't think they are quite there at this point. I would consider a few programs as being in the top tier of programs right now and they are Florida, USC, Texas, Oklahoma, Ohio State, and LSU. All of these teams have won National Championships recently and are in the National Championship hunt every season or every other season. PSU is in the next tier where they stay in the National Championship hunt once every three to four years and then lose to someone they should not lose to in their best seasons.

Like Texas Tech?
I didn't need to do any research because I already knew that they were on that team. If you count redshirting being a vital part of a national championship run, then you may have mental issues.

You're right. Who wants to learn from players that are on their way to winning National Championships? Obviously, it's not the players that commit to PSU since they haven't won one in 23 years.
