First off there's more than one example, I was just citing him, and trust me the reason he left was not because his parents couldn't afford it. It was 100% athletics, isn't that illegal? Oh wait they're a public school so they can do every and anything they want and its okay! Hypocrites.

It takes ENERGY to go public to private. It takes NO ENERGY to go the opposite way. You just quit one school and end up at the other. The public system IS the catch-all for everyone. The private system is the DESIRED (by some parents and students) system, that's why it takes ENERGY to go there from the public sector. You have to REALLY want to go from public to private for several reasons, many of which are athletic. It takes NO interviews, NO grade transcripts, NO behavior checks, to go public from private. You just show up. BUT to spend all the money and effort to go private, there MUST be an ulterior motive, which many times is athletic. What can I say?

Moldy, you did say something I'll actually agree with that you have to desire to go to private school. Agreed 100%. But, the main reason people go to private schools, and the reasons no kids I ever have will go to a public school, is the fact that the private school education is better and better prepares you for college. So if your faulting parents and students for wanting the better education that better prepares you for college. Well then shame on you.

What makes their educational program so much better? Where are you going to college jack? Pitt Johnstown with all of the other public school kids? I don't get it? It's like the article on yahoo news. Kids will pay $34,000/year to go to Harvard, but in the grand scheme of things kids that go to college at a state school for $4,000/year and make the same income throughout their life. So please enlighten me on why their educational program is SO great.

A higher percent of graduating McCort students get more financial aid and academic scholarships for college each year than Richland, Westmont, and Johnstown combined. And I've had many people tell me who attended both a private and a public, including ones who started at a private and finished at a public, that the private school did a lot more to prepare them for college than the private. And since you asked, no I do not go to UPJ.

I don't think Richland fans have much room to talk about beating McCort. Did they do it this year? Yeah. But In the last 35 years they've beaten McCort only twice.
jackie, why do you feel it necessary to wade into the fray when this all began as a discussion about some unprofessional, classless player getting tossed for over-the-top unsportsmanlike play. it only makes you look sad and grasping at anything to shore you and McCruit up and deflect. it gets old.

Again, McCort has a select group of kids academically. Even the kids who get LIFT scholarships have to have CERTAIN academic standards before they are considered of acceptance to BM. They just don't take ANYBODY. Didn't you just see where I said that public schools are "catch-alls" for students. And that BM students get more financial and academic scholarships than other schools is a joke. You can do LOTS of things with statistics. Maybe some BM kids get more money for college, but are they better off? Is getting a half scholarship at St. Francis better than a half scholarship at UPJ????? If you get half a scholarship at St. Francis, the family is STILL left with with a $15,000 bill each year. At UPJ, a half scholarship leaves a family with a $6,000 bill. So who's better off????? Don't let that amount of scholarship money fool you. It's ALL relative. And what good is that private school education if you have already spent over $20,000 to attend McCort in the first place? You got to give us a better argument than that.

[quote="jack daniel"]And almost all of them went to a Parochial School and have always been in the McCort system. quote]
I specifically remember when my son was in 8th grade and was at track meet at Windber where his friends threw shot against two Rugg boys. One in 7th grade and one in 9th grade both throwing for WINDBER SCHOOL DISTRICT. Are these the "almost"?

Maybe it was athletics. I heard the young man that left was in the parochial system for years and was scheduled to start in basketball at McCort when all of the sudden a few new students who just happened to be excellent basketball players just happened to decide they needed a parocial education and just happened to transfer in and eliminate his playing time at the educational system with which he had been affiliated since what, 2nd grade???? If it was 100% athletics it was because of the transfers in, not his transfer out!!!!!!!
