Smith from Tussey has done a lot of good things with that program and after years of going one win above .500 at best they have a great shot to win D5.

well 108 is super low. It means very few things, 1. Lot of cyber kids or 2. High amount of non graduates or 3. Mixture of both

You guys are harsh. I think that conference is a great fit for them. The LHAC would not be a good fit for their program. I don't think they are whiny about it either. The ICC had three AA schools. One of them was above .500. If I were the coach there I would have wanted to remain in a conference with all the local rivals too. They are not a big AA and aren't much bigger than a team like Windber or Bellwood.

The problem isn't with them being in heritage for me, its how beitel acts. He says his teams are great and demands respect from all d6 not just heritage. When he loses he goes on verbal rampages of stupidy, thus losing any respect he hopes to gain

konjo78, I can respect your opinion about the coach as opposed to those that talk about the conference affiliation. My wife's aunt and uncle live in that district. My wife's cousin graduated from there last year and that's why I knew the number that graduated. My wife texted her cousin and asked how many failed to graduate on that date and she said it was 4, so there must be a lot of cyber school students in the district.

Personally, I am a high school football fan, period. I follow all five area conferences and love the fact that football in our area is king. There is always great debate which can mostly be a good thing. I attend area games like the proverbial fly on the wall with no allegiance to either side. You would be surprised as to how much you can enjoy football when you do this. I have read Bleacher Coaches for years now but never got involved just because of that same reason. However, I just didn't understand how some schools get bashed without factual information. I don't recall (not saying this didn't happen) on Bleacher Coaches Richland fans complaining that they were in a conference with two AAA schools. I never heard Mountain Conference schools complain that Clearfield is in their conference. What I do think, and that is Richland is glad to have two AAA schools in their conference. Those schools, as evidenced by this year's Somerset game, prepare them well for the playoffs. In 2007 Bellwood was a 5-4 team playing in a mixed size conference. What happened? They rolled to a District 6 Championship and played in the PIAA Quarterfinal agains Steelton.

I've read on here that the un-informed think that the Jerry Page strong Laurel Valley teams were merged with Ligonier Valley. There is a reason that the schools were merged. The enrollment at both schools has fallen dramatically. It wasn't like Laurel Valley would have graduated 65 to 70 and Ligonier Valley graduated 150. Again, 108 combined.

Instead of bashing, we, as high school football fans, should be promoting District 6 as a strong district in our state. After all, District 7 promotes themselves as the best.

I wish they did this not for lv just because it makes sense. Its how most states work

Great point bigben. If D-5/6 would get rid of the conferences and all teams play within their classification in football it would be much better.

Yes it would. Have the district schedule games 2-10 and give everyone the choice of who they want to play week 1.
