I was shocked at the Berlin team i saw tonight. Not taking anything away from Ridge at all, but most of the Berlin team was gassed by the middle of the second period. I was most impressed with C.Buttry and his style and enjoyed watching him and like his brother he has a great mentality toward the sport. Ridge has a decent team and hard work is paying off.

My heart is still beating from that match. Right of the bat, the pin from Ben Clark was huge. To be honest, I didnt see it coming. The gym was chaotic. Conner Buttry, i figured, would win. However, His pin was.. awesome. Winegardner with the solid decision. Austin Buttry was.. austin. I definatley saw the conditioning difference. Burkett with the fall came, and I felt we were sitting pretty comfortable, but we needed our guys to not give up 6 points. Dunlap wrestled hard and I'd like to see that matchup again later in the future. Ickes didnt give up 6 by Swank, and swank wasnt too happy about that. Baaad Baaad Sportsmanship. Claar looked great with his 1st period pin. Oh!I missed Deremer and shank. A heck of a match. The freshman really stepped up and here was when I saw the conditioning difference. Morgan was quick on his feet and didnt let up. It was so good to see him get the W. Shank had the stream going with his 3rd period win, again the conditioning difference. Trent crouse and cahill was a good match that i would also like to see again. Josh Mcgill stepped up and was in the lineup lastnight at 160 for his first varsity time.

I think a lot of factors play into why CR blew out Berlin. It was a combo of CR being ready to go and Berlin laying an egg. This is the first big time match berlin has been in a long time. A couple toss-ups turn into pins and Berlins big guns dont get bonus points, simple as that. I was honestly expecting a better showing from Berlin. Side-note, was that Josh Deputy I saw on the Bench for CR? Is he just doing the Bedford County tour :)) ??

I can't really say I underestimated Chestnut Ridge. However, I did get tied up in believing that Berlin is the top team in D-5. I would actually like to apologize for not seeing that Ridge is #1! And will be for years to come! They wrestled with so much heart. Hats off to Ridge!
