Michael Sam
Re: Michael Sam
Are you kidding me? He's ALREADY gotten more ink than Clowney, and there's more to come. You give these people an inch, and they take a yard. They are special, right? When has any other 249th pick in the history of the draft been discussed more than Sam? Go the New York City. Ask who Jadaveon Clowney is. Then ask who Michael Sam is. Can you imagine if he wasn't drafted at all? There would have been calls for discrimination all over the sports world. I'm surprised that no one is griping already about how LOW his pick was. Just wait and see.

Re: Michael Sam
Man could you imagine if people not making a big deal about Jackie Robinson getting to play in major league baseball? This community has been put down in sports so much overtime and now that there is a huge first happening we shouldn't really care!
And a 6th round pick could be as good as #1 pick.... Was clownley defensive player of the year in the sec this year?

Re: Michael Sam
I predicted this was gonna happen. Sam said today, "From last season alone, I should have been (picked) in the first 3 rounds. SEC Defensive Player of the Year, All-American." He stopped short of saying his stock dropped because he came out. Again, imagine if he had not been selected at all. How can you compare him to Jackie Robinson. He was a man. He broke the color barrier, and just went about his business. Sam, like other in sports who have come out, has to rub it in our faces. How pathetic.

Re: Michael Sam
First he isn't flaunting his sexual orientation, media is! Next this is the first time in professional football an open gay athlete will potentially be on a team! So many times I've heard "being gay" as a put down.....
Re: Michael Sam
The fact that Obama has to make it a big deal and special coverage at the gay sports bar...all around just annoying this is probably the first time I agree with Moldy...
Re: Michael Sam
I just want to start off by saying that anyone who is suggesting that Sam or the NFL is up to something behind doors like "using his story" is completely out of their mind. Second of all, this is not a political battle anymore, if you support him good for you, if you don't good for you. He's in the NFL now and that isn't going to change. ESPN is making him a story and had for the past half year. The fact that you guys are mad because a gay athelete is playing is your argument, again the political battles are over. Here's my thought and why I am mad. This same player absolutely sucks, is very slow and isn't aggressive or strong. If this player was good dang right he should be able to play, I don't care if you are gay or not if you got the talent to win get out there. The fact of the matter, Michael Sam is not good, that is the real problem here.

Re: Michael Sam
Hard to say he can't play when he was a defensive player of the year last year in the sec... Yes his combine workouts suck but most of the all pro defensive players we see today are late round picks or undrafted rookies.... So before we say he is good or that he sucks let's just wait until he makes the team and plays a few games/season
Re: Michael Sam
O you can bet he's making the team, people will throw a fit if he gets cut
Re: Michael Sam
Without looking it up, who got drafted 248th? The "gay" community talks out of both sides of their mouth. Out of one side they don't want to be treated or seen as any different. On the other side they want a 6th round pick plastered all over the news and seen as a rallying cry.
I wish him a long healthy career, just as I would to anyone entering the workforce next year.
