Fouls caught up to JV. BC basically spent the 2nd qtr on the line. 3rd qtr BC shot over the zone. Lee was almost non-existent, the big from JV handled him quite well. Proud of the way JV stayed all in though. I already cant wait til next season in the north ICC; it will be a fantastic three team race with JV, WB and MU. All three teams return the majority and major pieces from this season, though I think JV returns the most. Hopefully JV can play there way into a state game by beating HC. I think BC opponents will be looking at this game tape as a formula to beat BC. Slow it down, be deliberate, almost Princeton - like, and execute. I dont see BC winning states, they dont look like the same team from last season. They got a bail out tonight on the foul line. Once they get out of the graces of D6, they will be in trouble. I was one who picked them to win it all earlier this season, now not so sure.

What more do you want? They more than doubled them up. Its like the Heat playing the Bobcats, its hard to get motivated when you know your going to win anyhow. I'm sure they will look a lot different against LP or Jburg.

BC needs to pick up a few more recruits if they want to win states

I wasn't there, but I mean BC won by 33.
As far as year to year, Bishop Carroll is better this year than they were last year. Martinazzi is a better player, Marcus Lee is a MUCH better player. Losing Ranck hurts, but Scott Lucas and Nick Suckinos offset his production. Maruca and Madonna can still handle the ball. They're about as deep as they were last year, too. If they didn't meet the eye test in a foul fest by winning by 30 points, well so be it.
Assuming Carroll wins Friday...
1. Carroll's 6-1 seed will have them playing D9 #4 in the first round, and that will be an easy win. I'm guessing it will be Ridgway.
2. Monessen in round two will be difficult, Monessen has the ability to score, but their tallest player is 6-2, an opportunity for Marcus Lee to shine. I think Carroll knocks them off, though.
3. This is where the Johnsonburg showdown can happen, but Jburg is not invincible. They could very well lose to ECC tomorrow, and drop down to a 3 seed. I think Johnsonburg wins D9, though. A potential Carroll-Johnsonburg game is a straight toss up. Grumley and Petersen are good, but I think Martinazzi is right there, and again, Lee is the clear cut best big guy.
4. Well this is where a potential Lincoln Park game would take place in the state semifinals, and Carroll would be huge underdogs. Carroll proved last year they could hang, but LP is a year older and they are still supremely talented. Carroll's best advantage in that game is that they won't be intimidated, and they will be more prepared by a better coach. Still a major uphill battle.
5. IF ALL THAT FALLS INTO PLACE.....They will play Math Civics and Science in Hershey. MCS is 11-14, led by junior guard Samir Doughty who is drawing interest from Temple and St. Joes, and current Penn State commitment, Mike Watkins. Don't let the record fool you, of course. Philly is a different world.
So in summation, Monessen could very well beat them in round two, and every game after that they will need to be on their A+ game.

Crimson, get off your private high horse!
Sukinos is not even in the same discussion as Ranck, or for that matter any of the subs that played tonight. He is slow, over weight, and not athletic at all, and benefits from teams focusing on Lee and Martinazzi thus leaving him open to shoot of which he seems to be able to make about 1 of 3 threes he attempts. Lee was less than impressive as I mentioned earlier and was obviously frustrated because he had a matchup with someone as physical and big as he is. Maruca and Madonna were not even the second or third best guard on the floor tonight. Collins from JV has that nod behind Martinazzi. The foul fest wasn't it at all, just that when JV turned up the intensity and pressure much the same as BC did, BC got to the line and JV didn't . Funny how that always works in the favor of those teams who are so good they dont need a few calls to go there way.
I think a growing trend ought to be that when public underdogs play these private schools, play as physical as possible and use up all 40 or 50 fouls you can get as a team and make em count as they are going to get called regardless. The publics are sick and tired of the gifts and charities the catholic privates get every sport they are involved with. Its total BS!!! AND YOU KNOW IT!!; like everyone else on this thread.
The BC fans are some of the most obnoxious SOB's in sports. I find it difficult to be such a glutton when the cards are stacked in their favor to begin with. C'mon man get real and find some public impartiality for once.

I was analyzing a basketball game and a team's run to states, where did I make mention of anything Public or Private?
I said Suckinos and Lucas (combined average of 13 points) offsets Ranck's 10 points per game average of last year. The math says it does. I never said they were better, but their production has been good for a 24-0 team.
I just must ask, if Juniata Valley had the second and third best guards on the court, Bishop Carroll's big man that just averaged 18 and 9 in a much tougher league got neutralized, and BC's 6th man is out of shape and athletic, How did they win by 30?
What happened? I wasn't there, tell me how the game went. How did it get to be the big of a deficit? Why was this year's score worse than last year's when these two teams met? What did both teams do well and didn't do well. I'm asking.
It's fine if you want to go off topic and play a broken record, well sorry if that's the way you want it to go, but I was in the mindset of speaking basketball. I'm not saying anything about Private or Public, I'm talking basketball.

I was sort of in shock when I saw that BG-BC will be playing each other for a district championship.
Insert eye roll.

JV had a great game plan at the outset. They went to a 4 corners offense and slowed BC down. BC was cold in the first quarter. Turnovers killed JV in the second and BC's shots started to fall. Once JV was forced out of the 4 corners offense they were done. Hats off to them for the first quarter but after that they are lucky it was only a 33 point game.
