Penn Cambria played very well tonight. Starting the game with 3 turnovers in their first 3 possessions they could have easily been down 21-0 but instead it was only 6-0. Central did drop a wide open TD pass but PC played well defensively as they have all year. Central did not play their best game but made some big plays on both sides of the ball when they needed them most.

I made the trip to Martinsburg last night, and this is what I took from the game.
1. Penn Cambria played a good game, but overall blew it. 1st and goal from the 2. Up 21-14 less that 7:00 minutes to go. drops a pass out in the flats then miss a field goal.
2. Central has a hard time moving the ball when you take away the long throws, their offensive line was out played last night and struggled in the game.
3. I thought Central secondary would of been a bit better. They were plays like for example a 4&20 that the gave up and number of times they had position but couldn't make a play on the ball.
4. Overall, good win for Central. I think that game gives me a lot more confidence when the visit MU next week.

Before the game everyone was talking about going to Mount Union next week and I told them let's win tonight first. I knew PC had a solid team coming in and was better than people were giving them credit for. PC came into the game with 4 losses and 3 of those were to teams that are seeded #1 in their respective playoffs. Other than Tyrone I would say PC was the best defensive team we faced this season and those kids played with a ton of heart. Central tackling was subpar to say the least and they know that can't happen again next week and still expect to escape with a victory. PC did a great job stopping the run (2 ypc) and our QBs were off all night (31%) but were fortunate enough to hit enough big plays to make the difference.
Ton of credit to PC QB Mardula on the 3rd and longs and 1 4th and long. He kept plays alive and fought til the end. Kids a gamer.
On to next week...

They were missing (or moved diff pos) 5 starters when we saw them. They aren't bad. Playing pretty well too.

Yeah you never know. They were missing Wagner when we played them. They'll be playing with nothing to lose that's for sure.
