Oskar Sundqvist and Kasperi Kapanen are by far the two best prospects (offensive) the Pens have.

Just because they are in 5th in the EC doesn't mean much... AHL talent doesn't necessarily equate to NHL talent.

I think there is going to be another move and it's going to involve Beau Bennett being shipped somewhere... he has clearly fallen out of favor with this staff and has little to no value on the 4th line. He played 7:47 last night... Almost 4 minutes less than the next lowest. I don't expect much in return but maybe they can recoup some of the draft picks they've sent away.

Huge win, avoiding the sweep. Putting a couple points between them & Caps. Liked the intensity from 1st puck drop, didn't like all the east-west giveaways. Luckily Caps had a lot of penalties, and kept Ovi on the bench during PK. Pens have to play smarter than the other teams, and that hasn't usually been the case this year.
It ain't over until it's over.

I like the new look Penguins. They look mean and intimidating right now with more help on the way in that department. Hopefully last night was a preview of what is to come.

I agree, it doesn't equate much. But there are instances where individuals rise from the league and equate to NHL talent. That, I am sure is what apbk was implying when he mention farm systems. What I think he was wrong with was when he said WB is bare.

Kapanen is an animal. Great pick.

I agree, this new look is definitely fresh and definitely exciting. This type of play will bring that playoff style that the pens have been lacking for a long time.

There isn't a single forward at WBS that will ever be a top 6 forward consistently in the NHL.

kapanen and sundqvist aren't in the "farm system," they are playing in other leagues but are property of the Penguins. Kapanen has 10 goals and Sundqvist has 9 goals this season. They are both playing in European leagues. Long way away from productive players in the much more physical NHL. While they are great prospects and 18 and 20 years old, I wouldn't bank the offensive future on these 2.

I didn't say they are in the farm system lol. And why did you put quotes around farm system, that's what you referred to it as? Not being an idiot just asking haha.

And apbk question for you, what forward do you think they should make a move on? If any at all

Kapanen needs to grow, and I mean literally grow. Compared to some of the boys in the NHL he is nothing. I think they have him plotted at 5'11 175

I was referring to your response to me saying the farm system is bare.

I don't think the Penguins can take on another rental at the expense of picks. Comeau is a pending UFA, Kunitz is 35, Dupper may never play again (let alone at a top 6 capacity). I don't really think this team needs much more moving forward. Let's hope Scuderi is ok because I'm not a fan of Bortozzo having to dress in every game in a playoff series.

The average size of an NHL player is 6' 1" 205 lbs. according to Doc last night. Considering people like Chara, Phaneuf, and Byfuglien skewing those numbers, Kapenan really isn't that small for an 18 year old winger.
