District 5/8/9 standings per the District V website:
  8 Westinghouse 4-5 570
  5 Bedford          4-5 510
  5 Somerset        3-6 360
  8 Perry              3-6 330
  9 Punxsutawney 2-7 250
  9 St. Marys        0-9 0

So my understanding is that the top team from the 3 districts gets in plus the next highest ranked team.  As of this week that would be Westinghouse, Bedford, Punxsutawney, and Somerset.  From what I can tell Perry does not have a game this week.  Westinghouse plays a team is has already beat, and Bedford and Somerset have winnable games, though anything is possible as this season has proven week after week.

To do this they will need Saltsburg's help.  If PL beats Ferndale they'll close the gap to Blacklick from 130 points to 20 points.  If Saltsburg beats Blacklick and Blairsville beats North Star they'll get those 20 points.  The only other place Blacklick could get points from is if Winber beats Homer.  If that doesn't happen the two would be tied at 370 points.

Tie Breaker is as follows:

Head to head-  N/ A
Record vs common opponent:  Only common opponent would be Saltsburg and Ferndale.  PL would be 2-0, Blacklick 1-1

Just found it pretty interesting how probably no one thought PL would have a shot at the play-offs heading into Friday night at 1-7 yet here they are in a situation that altough not likely, certainly possible.
What would really be interesting is if Mo Valley knocks off Tussey and throws its hat in the ring as well. They've played a lot of teams tight

Then after 5/8/9 the winner plays AAA winner from District 6?

After doing all the research. Somerset has secured a spot in the playoffs. Perry does not play this week, and for power points Laurel hasn't won a game yet, Brashear is idle and their other win was a forfeit so it is statistically impossible for Perry to catch them. Great news for the kids! Sad news for all the Somerset kool-aid drinkers that will be satisfied with a possible 3-7 playoff appearance.
