Last night's score:
Texas A&M 44
Texas State 31

So, here's the question: Is Texas A&M that bad or is Texas State that good? From what I could see of the box score, Reggie McNeal was in the whole game, so that isn't because they put their second teamers in. Apparently Texas A&M may not be that good.

When PSU scheduled those schools, were they Big East (BCS Bid conference mind you) schools? I don't think so. Also, I have said many of times on here that I'd rather be 3-0 than 0-3. That would be saying it doesn't matter who Penn State plays, if they won 3 games. Then they're sitting in pretty good position now, right? I haven't said these Big 12 teams are so special because they're beating up on bad teams. However, if you're losing to good teams, and you're 0-3, what does that get you? Nothing at all.

If you're losing close games to good teams, it gives the rest of the college world a heads up that you can play with the big boys and earns you a certain amount of respect, as well as giving your own team confidence when heading to play at the home of a middle tier team that yeah, we can win this. Texas Tech hanging 80 points on Sam Houston State demonstrates a sick sense of humor, and Texas A&M's close win over Texas State bodes better for Texas State (from a respect and confidence standpoint) than Texas A&M.

You're only as good as your competition, deliverance. That's why Carroll does so well come playoff time.
