abpk, once your favorite football team loses, do you continue to watch them? You say that thousands of people flock to football games because every game matters. I guess every game matters as long as you remain unbeaten and that's assuming you had a good pre-season ranking.
Also, if you watch a televised game of basketball during the season, they too are usually packed. Most major teams sell out every game....even games during the week. Apparently these games matter to the fans as well as the players and coaches.
I will agree with you about Boeheim crying about not being invited. I do think they were more deserving than Arkansas, but if you nobody no major conference team should moan about not making the top 65.
