Athens, it seems like caperelli will have another great season especially because this year he is "the man" on the defensive side of the football. I'm sure he will far surpass his 77 solo tackles from last year if he stays healthy. Do you know any of the stats from the richland game? I was pretty impressed that richland was able to score 30 points against the mccort defense (cruz the james boys caperelli and lowry all seem as tough as anyone mccort has had in the past. The last time mccort gave up 30 or more was FH D-6 game in 05' and before that BC 03'. Were they in the traditional 4-4? It seems like the offense has taken alot of criticism on here for a run first mentality.

there was also criticism of not placing I. Wadley into the scheme offensively. When it seems the defense is where the questions should come from. Wondering if you can shed some light. Maybe there were injuries?

Sometimes games just turn into track meets....when both teams score quick...the O is on the field longer - usually turning into more points...

I have a source that says that there were 80 offensive plays in the richland v. johnstown game with the average around 60...

First off Im a huge McCort fan but lets call a spade a spade. People have danced around the BM coaching issue in this thread & in general long enough. Anyone that knows anything about BM football knows that Salem calls all plays & their best coach (dave S) has run the defense for years.
As alluded to earlier, he has the strongest armed qb in the area but does not know how to use him or let the kid loose. When was last time BM was in shotgun this yr.? Never I believe. The last drive of the richland game was a joke and Salem calls out his players in the paper ??"we made too many mistakes" - BM got the ball with less than 2 minutes I believe and after a penalty had 2nd and 20 - he ran a fullback trap - for no gain, let clock run and "shuttled" in the play for 3rd & 20 - qb hit M Varga for like 35 yd gain and guess what - with clock stopped called TO?? Then got to goal line and of course on 3rd and long - after a delay of game penalty - ran the fb trap??? kept kicker on right hash mark and kicker missed wide right - who made mistakes coach???

Loook at recent history - defense has carried this team- in last 6 years or so here are some results from his offense in the biggest contests of the year. In 2002 they lost to BC 21-7, Jtwn 14-7, and in D6 championship only scored 10 vs FH. In 2003 lost to BC and only scored 8, lost to Jtwn 14-9, and Fh in playoffs 19-7. In 2004 lost to BC 17-14, beat Jtwn 17-14 and lost to Tyrone in playoffs 15-6. In 2005 lost to BC 14-13 and Fh 26-14. in 2006 beat FH 18-16 and lost to Wilmington 13-6. See something consistent there? In the largest contest of the year his offense has sucked!

The only big wins where they rolled offensively were in 2001 when Arcurio threw for nearly 360 on Fh and Tyrone last year when he let the Defrances kid throw & spread out Tyrone to open up the run for Scott L.

Someone pointed out previously that BM should have been shutout in first half vs Richland - only Vargas 80 plus yard intercept return in last minute enabled BM to score - again he would not let the kid throw? and in second half BM rolled up tons of yardage after opening up the offense - who made the mistake in first half?? Look in mirror Salem.

You have the best qb in area without a doubt( Pecora is an excellent runner and athlete but does not throw nearly as well) and several very good receivers - use them

The score vs Johnstown in 02' was 14-7 in favor of mccort.

DeFrances is the best QB in the area without a doubt? dunno if its that cut and try and for years people have talked about how pecora could not win the big game and how DeFrances had a phenomenol drive against FH that User just gushes about. Well now Pecora did win the big game and have some bigtime heroics to do how are u measuring your "QB rating".

Kingdom..that has me puzzled too. Vman is a great advocate of BM sports, and I applaud him for his fervor. He is often on here offering psychological help..maybe he is using reverse psychology on his troops. Perhaps he is disenchanted over last weeks game. Who knows. Either way, I hope he is ok and comes back soon. Like or hate what he has to say, he is good for the discussion board.

Perhaps he thought this was the year for that elusive undeafted season...Vman has said it numerous times though the competition in the LH prepares teams for the D6 playoffs and beyond. My advice to Vman is this take as much time as you need you have earned your stripes...And remember time heals all wounds!

Actually have been extremely busy but did congratulate Rams a day or two after their victory....they were better team that eve....and 'crush i had no delusions of an undefeated season.....O line is work in progress....Center never played varsity prior to this yr., two sophs @ O Tackle and A Capparelli has a serious 'stinger like' problem.....I hear he was considering sitting or at most playing only one side of ball vs Westy... he was simply not himself vs Rich....and Krouse ran wild in A gaps.....

In pre-season Vman did pick Rich & Westy to win 7 or more games.....Rich is on pace... Westy needs to beat BM to hit that # and that McCort Oline will struggle esp. w/out Ants C.....McCort is way better @ the skill positions but this could be the year....1st time since 2000... 'toppers in an upset!!

wow, I expected to win by a few TD's but not the hurt we just put on the Hilltoppers


Eric Lowry added to his TD total with 3 and Matt Varga once again turned in a solid offensice performance but its the defense that should be receiving a lot of credit......3 first downs!!!!Westmont looked like a JV team they were lost They had nothing going for them
