I'm froM the CC/BC area (so no one thinks i'm a BM fan) and really think this is the year for a different team besides S Columbia and S Highspire to win it. The wpial I have a feeling is really down so I look at the local top single A teams and think they have a real chance. I don't think Portage like previous years has the right O to make it past the D6 semis. People come on here and write about the coaching staff of Portage well that same coaching staff has been doing the same thing year after year run run and more running. WHY? It works in the West Pac but not outside so start changing the philosophy. I think the coach is just happy w/ going undefeated in this area and thats it. That run philosophy will only take you so far and until they become more balanced its never going to happen. So I ask the people on here how good of a coach is coach Gousse (? spelling). Shouldn't a coach w/ 60-70 kids every year do what he has done. I would like to see what a coach like Buzzard or Sponsky do w/ a team like that. To me Gousse is a avg coach put in a great situation were he can out man every team he plays around here. I can really see both BM and BA going far this year its just to bad they have to play eachother.

"One dimensional" makes me laugh. I went to Heinz Field the last couple years for WPIAL championships and the only team that could throw a pass was TJ. The only pass play that Clairton threw last year was a fade to Weatherspoon. The WPIAL definately has speed, probably McCort is the only team that could match it, but they definatley do not have more offensive diversity.
I don't think that anyone will disagree with you ranking McCort and Bellwood #1 and #2 in D6A. I think it will be that way for a long time, maybe until they finally get 6 classifications and allow single A to be just small schools. But being #3 is nothing to be ashamed. There is a chance that there could be 3 undefeated teams in D6A.

Does anyone have Portage reg season record and playoff record during the Portage coaches years there?

judging by Portage Alum's statement....Does that mean he thinks McCort is more athletic and better then Rochester and Clariton? Cause the swarming fast Defense wasnt stopping Lowry Seidel and Wadley last season.
But to build up your hopes a little bit....McCort starts 11 seniors on Offense.... They're definitely going to take a while before they get rolling....Might be Portage's breakthrough year if their underclassmen are better then McCort's underclassmen.

I would bet that Portage has won 4 (maybe 5) playoff games (3 last season) during their "run" over the past 10 years. That puts their playoff record at something like 4-10 with no championships and one finals appearance.
Simply put, history dictates that Portage is in over their heads when the rubber hits the road and they play credible teams...and that's just from their own district.
Look at McCort last year...They pounded Portage 42-7, then McCort got blasted by Steel High by 3 TDs. This result/comparison further illustrates and substantiates the "WeakPac" theory. Portage pounds everyone in the WeakPac 56-8, then they get slammed themselves by 5TDs in the district final, to a team who loses by 3 TDs in the western final.
Who knows, maybe they'll prove me wrong this season. With that said, I'm not holding my breath.

CC-Could this be the last possible highly talented McCort senior class? I have seen the numbers and talent dwindling and they even lost the parchioal league, barring some major recruitment(legally or illegally), McCort could hit a decline such as Carrol has.

They got a stud Sophomore QB
Rugg's brother whose is bigger then Shane also a Soph.
and check out the freshmen roster lot of familiar names if you followed McCort football in the past and the 8th graders are undefeated.
Theyre not going anywhere just yet

interesting, guess I will take note of how Richlands traditionally weak junior high teams compare to McCorts parchioal all stars(if they really have all star status)
Some parchioal classes of years gone by would never lose a game against public schools, even beating every one of FHs legendary junior high teams i would wager
