Re: Richland
It's convenient that the difference between 4.6 and 4.2 is the blink of an eye
Human error, whether on purpose or not, is a huge factor in these "combine stats". The only time they should be taken into account is when comparing two athletes who both run at the same place, on the same day, with the same timer, preferrably not hand time. Anything else is pretty much garbage, and too many outside factors can influence the times.
As far as his height.. I'd give him 6'0".. so he' probably listed as 6'1", understandable.

Hey pats I know the name of this site is bleachercoaches. My question is if you know so much about football, then why don't you get up and coach??? Rather than anonymously trying to discredit the guys that do???
Re: Richland
Was not discrediting anybody. Heck Congrats Richland coaches, you can beat the bottom feeders of the LH teams and get maybe 1 big over achieving win a season(Johnstown&Huntington last season, McCort that one year). Settling for mediocrity is a great thing.
I am only half serious. Hopefully they prove me wrong and do keep working the team and striving to improve, even continuing to improve on the bland offense(motion, different zone read looks, QB friendly passes, etc).Last week they looked decent adding a few things, mainly utilizing the jet sweet, although it looked as if could be a TON more effective if the JET motion back actually received the hand off at full speed, rather than slowing to a jog or almost standstill.
If they put the time and effort in to make progress and changes(especially improving the small often overlooked details), proving the doubters wrong, I guarantee they go 6-4 and make noise in the playoffs. ALOT of talent. If they just accept soundly beating the bottom feeders, and dont improve and adapt, 5-5 or even 4-6 and a disappointing finish will be the result.

Re: Richland
Aside from Rizzo, Cinko, and Klinar who is the rest of the TALENT you keep referring to? Definitely sounds like you watch a lot of their games, i.e. a parent, so I am curious to know what you are seeing that no one else does.
Re: Richland
Big and better line, bigger than most years. Funny you mention Kliner, because thats another thing I don't understand. Returning starting senior on O line, strong big tough, his senior year gets moved to TE where he bairly plays. I dont and cant understand that. AS seniors and players of experience, they should be anchor of a line. Instead Richland doesn't develop the lineman, and by the time their seniors, decide to play young undersized sophomores in their place(or actually a freshman this year) Actually has happened numerous times in the past. No logic in that
Skill wise- fast and quality players rbs/slot type players they never use(walton, rozich).Spicher may be one of the fastest kids but never get the occasional reverse, spot pass, or kick return. Not a complete list still a few more guys who can help out. The athletes are there, just need to use them right
Sure, Richland does lack skill and experience in some areas. It may appears that richland is not as skilled because it is the area where they have previously won games at QB and Wide receivers. Doesnt mean they dont have it other places

Re: Richland
Pats, good point. I remember they moved the Lohr kid to TE a few years ago when he was arguably their best lineman. DonBo seems to have this fetish also with using lineman as TE's or FB's. Luckily, FH usually has enough lineman that i doesn't hurt

Yeah, bigger, but softer. You can develop lineman, but you can't make them bigger. Don't try and act like those kids are solid. Name one kid on that line who is as good as the kids on FH's or JHS' line. Klinar is a great linebacker but was probably moved because he weighs around 185. Yes they have some speed, but rozich, speicher, ludwig, sease are some of the shortest receivers you'll ever see. Once again pass protection, run blocking, etc goes back to size. Technique is great, but if two guys have good technique, size will win every time. Thats why they lost big to FH and JHS and close to the Football Academies. Not sure what point you are trying to make, but it definitely sounds as if you are more of a disgruntled parent than an x's and o's guy who has a deep philosophical issue with Bailey.
On the flipside, as an outsider familair with them, here is what I see -- Richland is a victim of its own success. The parents of the juniors and seniors saw success the last few years, and feel it is their right to win games because they support the new school, they sign up for the golf outing, the fund-raisers, etc. One of the best quotes ever that can be applied in this situation is this - you are what your record says you are.
Re: Richland
I was told they have not used motion much because the players kept screwing it up. Well, why not huddle up then like a normal team to get these players straightened out? No huddle is a great tool in many circumstances, but that doesn't mean you can't huddle up every once in a while?
Also, typically no huddle is run by a quarterback who has experience and knows the offense inside and out.
Not by a player who has never played quarterback until his senior year!
As far as players who are fast but short, exactly! You can't use the same system/plays that you did whenever you had bigger recievers!
Victim of own success? Winners try and build on success, not rationalize situations!

Re: Richland
So was he replaced with some bruising 225 hulk of a lineman? Pretty sure the freshman who plays over him is not 200lbs. Who cares how short the receivers are? Sick of richland coaches/supporters basically say anytime they lose it is because of lack of a line.BS they have had how long to devlope a line, the coaches have been here for what 9,10 seasons. Sure size is great, but if richland has guys in the weight room all off season, and works on tecnique off season and in season, how is that seniors never anchor the line, instead they prefer to throw in the next sophomore sensation. Also, just for reference, richland DOES have more kids over 200lbs this season than last season according to max preps, even though there is 12 less kids. LACK OF DEVELOPMENT, LACK OF FORESIGHT.
There is no QB to throw fades or any route that height is a big factor in anyways. Instead you use these guys on spot passes, end around, jet motions, returns ETC.Also the best receiver richland, and arguably the LHAC has had was only 5-7 range two seasons ago.
I do have issues with how it is being run and developed, not just the offense. I just see lack of foresight and no motivation to think outside of the normal. Striving for mediocrity. NO attention to detail, which really bugs me.
The richland coaches are a victim of their own "success". I honestly think they are content with beating the bottom feeders and not ADAPTING or EVOLVING. Fine they were out matched by FH and JTOWN. The catholic academies they were out coached. Passing 31 times vs Carrol, really? Having no plays except zone read against mccort, along with the great foresight of having a freshman deep to receive punts in a HUGE rivalry game. Can NOT use the line as an excuse either, as I corrected you earlier, Richland IS bigger and taller than the catholic academies.
Richland has quite a bit of talent now and coming up. Settling for anything less than coaches and a program who is going to get the most out of talent should not just be fine with the parents, supporters, and the school district.
I hope I am wrong, and Richland literally does do everything it can to win out and make some noise.
