Listen...I'm not going to sit here and say I knew Richland was going to beat Forest Hills (especially by 40 like they could have)...but like I said in my preview...I was very nervous. Richland is very talented, and they are going to be continued to be talented at the Varsity level for the next 3 years. Their current sophomore class is loaded, they have a solid line and a state champion wrestler running the football. They took it to us last night.

On the other side of the coin...the G&G has graduated some pretty good football players over the last two years...a lot of whom where three year starters. It may finally catch up with FH this year. It happens. Get your licks in while you can Richland...and anyone else who bests the Rangers this year.

Hey it's only one game...we may lose no more, we may lose again. Either way, I know our kids won't quit, just like they didn't last night...and the OG will hang his hat on that any day.

Congratulations Richland...you deserve it. Good luck the rest of the year and hopefully we get another shot at you in the playoffs.

Any coach will tell you it all starts up front. And that is exactly what happened in Sidman Friday night. Richland just manhandled FH up front on both sides of the ball and that was basically the whole story. The Richland backs where into the second level all night and the Rangers couldn't give their backs any space at all. Gdula had no time to look down field most of the night and was constantly harassed. I also saw something that I really never saw from a Richland team before. They looked and played with a confidence that was impressive. They never looked indecisive and this was evident in the hit that their Sophomore LB #58 put on Gdula. He took off toward Gdula from 6-7 yds away and just leveled him, shaking up the ranger qb. The kid never showed any apprehension that he might not be able to make the play. That being said, I see the Rams going into Trojan Stadium 3-0 but I think J-town will just be too athletic for them and will match up size and strength wise and will give the Rams their 1st loss. Now before people say I am a Ram lover let me add that I do live in the district and do see more of their games then other teams because of convenience. I have no kids in the district though. I am just a former coach from out of state that moved here because of my job and local family. Now, jack daniels, how do you see BM's line matching with Richland's. I know Rugg is a monster but how about the other linemen?. Correct if I'm wrong but I have heard that other then Rugg Richland is bigger. That will be a great game to see.

Outside of Zach, and sophomore Christian Roman, Richland's all around might be slightly bigger, but McCort's isn't small as well as being very good and pretty athletic. Gap Barbin might be the best defensive lineman in the conference, and is a pretty good center too. Their middle 3 on defense will be tough for anyone to deal with. Barbin at nose, Rugg at DT, and 6'3 260 pound sophomore Christian Roman at the other DT. McCort vs Richland will be a hell of a game this year, most likely the 4-0 Crushers hosting the 3-1 Rams. I think McCort is the better all around team due to the dual threat of their offense. They have a great QB with a ton of weapons to throw to, and they also can run 3 deep at running back. McCort vs Richland will be a great game, and its got high expectations to live up to McCort vs Richland has produced a classic 4 years running now, in the end I give a slight advantage to the Crushers. But we'll find out at the Point on September 30th.

Thanks jd. If the rams can run the football and the clock, keeping Mccort's O off the field in a low scoring game, then I think they stand a chance. The key for McCort is their passing game. Protect Cooper so he can go downfield and the Rams are in trouble. In the few years I have seen Richland I noticed that they struggle in the secondary. Their db's don't play the ball well, don't seem to get their hips turned correctly, struggling to find the ball. And Richland's qb's are talented but young (both sophomores). I don't see them handling pressure well if BM can bring it, which it seems like they can. But we have 4 weeks til that game so we can analyze things then.

Very true coach about still have 3 weeks, a lot of football to be played between now and then. But trust me as an ex-McCort player I can tell you once you hit week 4 you start looking ahead to the Rams in week 5. And I'm sure Ram players are the same way. The difference is week 4 McCort plays Bedford, and my 3 years we played a bad BC team and struggle because of looking ahead, and Richland plays Jtown. So the Rams certainly can not get stuck looking ahead.

Haven't seen a post containing any details on the Bellwood/Tyrone game (correct me it I'm wrong).

This game could very easily have been won by Bellwood but that takes nothing away from Tyrone. Bellwood did a great job of getting pressure Franco all night and they had him looking pretty rough in the second half (mix of a lot of big hits and he seemed to be struggling from some substantial cramping). Tyrone's pass protection looks to need some work but their line always improves as the year goes on. The size of Tyrone's defense amazed me, I have not seen a defense that looks so big up front and so athletic from the linebackers back in the area for a long time. The running back from Tyrone, #31 I believe, is quite shifty and did a great job of finding holes even though it seemed to me that Bellwood's defense line won the battle against Tyrone's front. Both of these teams were hitting extremely hard for high school football and as a casual observer it was very entertaining to watch. If Bellwood could have scored on their redzone trip in the 4th I feel they would have won the game because I am not sure Franco could have put a passing drive together in the shape he displaying. I feel both of these teams will be making stops in the District 6 championship game.

Tyrones' tb is #13, the fb is #31. Both ran pretty well,. B-A did do a nice job of pressure, but they were getting it by sending at least 1 sometimes 2 and 3 guys every play. Would have been exposed a bit more if Tyrone wouldn't have had 2 sure td passes dropped on seperate drives, one by Getz one by Patton. You may have also noticed 6 of Tyrones' 7 accepted penalties were on 3rd down keeping B-A drives alive. Some see it one way , some see it another.....Could have easily been 31-6.
