I just saw in the paper that the 6-8 kid affani brown didn't play against ct because of a hurt knee. I didn't know they didn't have him in there. He would have made a difference especially on defense in that game. He isn't the best on offense, but when you play 6-0 kids, you are 6-8, you can get high lobs and get shots off and rebounds. That changes my outlook on the game a bit. Take nothing away from ct, but bailey and brown were that teams scorers and missing a 6-8 kid hurts a team, even though he isn't as polished as you would want for a kid that tall. Nobody said they were missing the 6-8 kid!

I think PC will beat GCC. GCC guards will not be able to physically compete other than Herman. PC kids are big and strong. PG Mardula is a lot better than I thought after seeing him in person. CLose game though

Not having the 6'8" kid in the middle of Westinghouse's 2-3 zone defense is all the explanation I need regarding why it was apparently not as effective vs. Township.
That kid, although not terribly skilled, would have been worth 8-10 points on the offensive end strictly because he'd have had some stickbacks, and would've prevented 8-10 points defensively because his wingspan is easily 7 feet, he would have affected, blocked, or prevented at least 4-5 made shots. Easily.
Take 10 points from Twp, and add 10 to Whouse...What would the final score have been then? That's an indication of the impact a 6'8" kid would have had. If Township won by 10, I think the score would've been reversed had that kid played.
If my aunt had a mustache, she'd be my uncle too. Wait, I think she does.

as i said i wasnt at the game, can only go by what my son told me and what i saw on tv highlights. i agree he would have scored probably 10 but c.t. was shooting and everything was dropping outside so i disagree that he would take 10 away from ct with that i think it would have been very close with ct having won by 11 would have made it a tie game. but lets not be unrealistic here. robert bailey is the kid that puts the points on the board. guess thats karma for having to play the playin game lol

A win is a win. Not cts fault the kid was hurt and they still won and are moving on. It is hard to say what would have happened, but I saw the tall guy didn't play and that definitely gave ct the clear advantage. You never know who would have won it with brown in the lineup, but the bottom line is ct still won and is moving on. Congrats guys and good luck vs brentwood on sat. at upj. That will give ct the adv. also like shade has being they both play there a lot.

Bailey puts up 21ppg, but the two games I saw, Brown impacted the games big time with rebounds, stickbacks, and just a prersence in the middle of the 2-3 zone.
Having seen what a kid like Brown could do and knowing the impact a 6'8" athlete would have in a game featuring two AA schools, his presence against a team like Township would EASILY mean a 10 point swing both ways. He would have had 4-5 stickbacks, altered, prevented, or flat out blocked at least 5-10 shots, and would have grabbed 5-10 more rebounds that Twp didn't get.
If CT's best post player hadn't played and Brown did play, how do you think the outcome would have been affected???
The biggest reason that CT won 55-44 was the absence of Brown. Period.

Not to mention how much further 'house could have extended their forwards and guards in their 2-3 zone with a 6-8 guy in the middle instead more limited range based on whomever they used that wasn't as big or good.

Looking at the video that was on YouTube and watching the game the other night, I actually believe that Westinghouse had a quicker and more athletic team on the floor than with the big man. Two kids did the majority of the scoring. One from outside and #1 was great off the dribble. Regardless of the big man not being there, there was still plenty of hops on the floor. We're they a different team without him? You bet. Loss in length on the floor? Sure was. More athletic? I think they were. Too bad the kid was injured. I would have liked to see him play.
