Looking at their schedule, the Dragons have a great shot to win out and end the year at 9-1 and get a top 2 or 3 seed in the playoffs. The Mountain league is brutally awful this year after the top 3 teams. Chestnut Ridge may be the only team with a shot at beating them until the playoffs. Crazy to think with such a young team after losing so many studs last year that they could actually have a better record this year than last.crfball wrote:Central might make some noise come playoff time....
Every public school has there cycle of ups and downs of athletes. Windber is in there down cycle for that. Portage will be declining after this year. If there is a bigger no class of a coach than grouse. I feel bad for the school that employees him. When Windber dominate portage he would cry in the paper. I am surekonjo78 wrote:While I agree with subbing his starters and taking a knee is a good move having your starters come out without pads is a real AHole thing to do... Portage was up 56 - 0 with a little over 2:00 to go in the 2nd quarter and took 3 knees with the ball near the 25 to get to the half. The Mustang's starters came out of locker room without pads on or helmets and never played a down in the 2nd half or this game could have gotten WAY out of hand.
I could care less about the 56 points that Portage put up in the first half.. I know you are proud because you keep posting it. All Of us Windber fans are prepared for that after the years of success Windber football has had. It don't take one game to make you an idiot coach. Grouse has had that title for years. I will wait for the no class quote in the paper from him when BG puts 50 points on the score board this year. Or a lost to Berlin/Myersdale.PortagePride wrote:I should have worded It better and I apologize for that. The starters didn't ACTUALLY physically come out of the locker room at halftime and run onto the field without pads and a helmet on. They were on the sidelines where SOME of them removed their pads and such and their helmets were sitting on the benches behind them.
However I think its utterly impossible to make some of you happy. You complain when a team runs up a score and yet you complain when a team kneels the ball with over 2:00 before halftime and doesn't let their starters or a few key depth players play one down in the 2nd half.
Oh and RamblerMan24 - If you don't want a high powered Portage team with a "classless coach" to hang 56 points on you in a half. Then tell you're upstanding coach Grohol to don't continually have your QB throwing the ball and throwing FIVE Interceptions before halftime which quickly led to more Mustang Points.
