If the Big Ten top 4 played the 4 games that the Big East top 4 played they would be 4-0 also.

I think a good barometer for a conference is how good the "middle of the pack" teams from each conference do in bowl games. After all, every conference has a couple of heavy weights. The Big Ten middle of the conference teams all lost.
The Big Ten middle of the pack teams all lost? I guess that makes Penn State a heavyweight. Once again, thanks!!!!

Yeah, the Big East went 4-0. Look at who they played. Cincinnati played Western Michigan in a bowl game!!! South Florida played East Carolina... IN A BOWL GAME!!! West Virginia, national champs every season, had to rally big against an UNRANKED and TERRIBLE Georgia Tech staff AND team. Louisville beat a "pretty good" Wake Forest team.

I guess you think Ohio State couldn't have beaten Wake Forest.
I guess you think Michigan couldn't beat Georgia Tech.
I guess you think Wisconsin couldn't beat Kansas State.
How about Penn State versus EAST CAROLINA or WESTERN MICHIGAN?

Yes, the big East is getting some depth. Do they deserve a BCS bid? Yes, because Louisville is showing they can recruit quality players and win enough games to make it to the BCS. But on the other hand, didn't the WAC have a very strong bowl performance? How about the Mountain West? I really think BYU can beat WVU, and probably hang w/ Louisville. I know Boise can beat both. Hawaii would give both of them a ton of trouble but probably lose a shootout. So what is the verdict? How about, take away that pathetic extra bid the ACC has. Give it up for another at-large.

I gotta tell ya... I'm trying to be objective here. I see a Big East conference who has 2 top teams and both of those teams have coaching staffs that have plateau-ed completely. Bobby Petrino is no better of a coach right now than he was in 2004. Rich Rodriguez continues to make the same mistakes as he always has. These coaches are simply not as talented as people want to believe. Yes, WVU has 3 nice players (Schmitt as third) and Louisville is getting nice depth. But as we have seen with Penn State, recruiting means nothing if the coaching staff is less than stellar. Louisville continues to lose games to teams they should beat, and so does West Virginia. The jury is still out on Rutgers. Until the coaching staffs stop making so many mistakes, and costing the whole conference recognition, I can't get on board with the Big East. What has either of those coaches done differently since 2-3 years ago? Nothing, because they stopped progressing.

Retro says that Navy took Pitt's bowl bid. You know what? I was sad when Penn State lost to Michigan last season on a questionable call. I was irritated when Oregon screwed a good Oklahoma team up at Autzen. But there is no reason why one call should cost you the game. Take care of your business. There's no excuse why you should go 6-6 and have to worry about making a bowl appearance. Pitt lost to UCONN, dude. That stuff should not happen. Who's fault is it that Pitt wasn't in a bowl game? It sure as hell wasn't Navy's.

Enough said right there. If you seriously think that the Big East is as good of a conference as the Big Ten...you have issues.

On the same term however, the Big East is not a bad conference, especially not as bad as people try to make it out to be.

If anything this Bowl season has taught us, not that we didn't already now but...it is that there has to be a playoff in D1 A football. If Boise State can go 13-0, and knock off Oklahoma, whose to say they couldn't find a way to beat OSU?

The BCS has the right idea...but it needs to be taken a step farther.

I believe 64 teams can make a bowl right now...so make the BCS a 16 team bracket, that would include every conference winner gets a bid to the BCS bracket, and the rest of the slots go to "at Large" Bids.

The other teams can play their cupcake bowls and be done with it.

Of course, with a playoff the regular season is going to need to be shortened to a 10 game schedule ideally.

The system is already in place in DII and DIII, just add a few bowl sponsers and away you go.

The playoffs would be just as watched as any current bowl game is now...if not more. In fact, every game in that field of 16 (15 games total) would be of significance toward the National Title...instead of just the one we get to watch now this coming Monday

Not to get off topic but how high do you think it is possible for an UNDEFEATED Boise State team? If they are not in the top 5 it is rediculous like posted earlier look how well the WAC did in the bowls.
