Burke, LOL. If I was Richland I would probably repost the position. If Burke was your best candidate and he must have been if they hired him then the future doesn't look bright for Richland.

They just hired a coach who won less than 10 games the last 2 seasons at Windber that plays in the Westpac and expect him to turn around their basketball team. That’s like hiring Lane Keffen with the Raiders to fix the Detroit Lions. When you have a team that has always lost you don't bring in a coach that has never won.

Congrats to Coach Burke.

I don't think a combination of Coach Knight, Coach K, & Coach Izzo could have got more 15 wins out of that Windber roster the past few years. Richland keep this in mind, any coach is better than what you had, Burke gets it, will build elem program, summer work outs, etc.

Look at Jim Tracy, ex manager for the pirates. Only won 60 some games with the pirates, ended up coach of the year for the Rockies the next year. Players matter.

Are you sure Burke got hired? The tribune ad that was posted last week had a deadline in May for applicants.

was in the tribune today, congrats to him, and good luck on resurrecting a dead program. Think he will have numbers and talent at least in the coming years.

I think it will be tough for Burke. Richland has two players back in Malzi (17.5 ppg) and Ritenour (9.5 ppg) and no true point guard. They lost five seniors and other than the two above mentioned players, they do not have many players returning who did much last season. The tallest player on the roster from last season is Ritenour (6'3") who took over half of his shots from outside the arc. Many feel that Burke will be able to get players out for the program that can help but I am not sure how quickly they can impact. A two man show in the LHAC will most like bring Richland another sub .500 season.

Burke may not have been able to get people to play for him, but he knew the X's n O's better than most other coaches in the area.

You will have to explain how he is better than most coaches when it comes to X's n O's when you only win 11 games in 2 years in the WestPac. That is just AWFUL. I don't expect teams to beat Conemaugh Valley, Shade, or North Star but the games should be close and if 5 of those wins have come against Shanksville that is not saying much. You will have to give BC some examples of how he is better X n O's wise. I don't believe that........

Xs and Os is about 10% of coaching getting the right players out for your program and motivating them to play hard is what it is all about. You have to sell yourself to your players, make them believe in you and your plan.
