Does Windber do much more with Rugg on the team? Prolly not.

The fact of the matter is, McCort minus Rugg and Merriman was heads and shoulders above any A team(exept Bellwood) in this area with a roster comprised of kids from parochial schools.

So that kinda defeats your argument, wouldn't you say?

Don't get me wrong they are great players, but they weren't the sole reasons like you make it out to be.
Actually, you just proved my point, without Rugg and Merriman McCort doesn't get out of D6...they lose to Bellwood.

Chaz Merriman leaving Westmont was a HUGE BLOW to Westmont football. They moved this kid up as a Freshman! If Chaz stays, maybe Bennett goes out two years ago, now you have Keklak, Bennett, and Merriman. That's now a 7-2 team.

Chaz stays at Westmont, they are a 5 win team last year. I don't know the exact numbers, I don't follow Westmont football that close, (maybe someone on here can help me out) but I am pretty sure Westmont lost a lot of close games the last two years. He would have played both ways at Westmont for 4 years and made a huge difference.
And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

No, Bellwood is the only team that has a prayer against them. The parochial kids still beat them.

I'm sorry Westmont football's problem has a lot bigger problems then Chaz going to McCort. They had no line, no quarterback and maybe 1 receiver. So they have 3 Running Backs, good grand wonderful. At best 5-5.

Two years ago Westmont football was 3-7. Keklak did just about everything for that team.
They did have some close calls.
Lost to Forest Hills by 3 scores
Lost to CC by 2 Td's
Lost to McCort by 24

But they did actually lose 3-4 tough games, I'll give you that. But 1 player doesn't prevent the opponents scoring in the 30's every night.
Maybe with Chaz they get to 5-5.

Last year, they were much much worse. 2-8.
Lost to Penn Cambria by 28
17 to Johnstown
27 to McCort
28 to Richland
18 to Bedford
40 to Forest Hills

What could Chaz have possibly done to make that season anywhere close to respectable? I mean seriously. That proves that 1 player in AA football isn't as big as you think. And I know Chaz, and I know the type of talent he has, but dang thats tough to ask of 1 person.

You need a team, you need coaches, and you need a winning attitude.

You answer me this, Can Westmont claim any of those?

So they were 3-7, and lost 4 "close" games. Give them 3 of them and in Coach Glennon's first year they go 6-4. Now he has something to build of off as a coach.

Last year, that "talented" group of Sophomores we've all heard so much about has a Senior to look up to and show them the way. Also, maybe some other kids are still playing football in the Westmont program are still playing football, that have since quit becuase of the lack of success.

I'll agree, there are other problems up on the hill besides the fact that Chaz left. But that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
And the last thing I must tell you...NEVER QUIT!

Terrelle Pryor could have gone to Johnstown you know. His mom lives here. Maybe he would've went to McCort

I live on the hill, i see the problems. He had his reasons for leaving. But I'm sure a big one was how bad that program has been.

"He (Merriman) had his reasons for leaving. But I'm sure a big one was how bad that program (Westmont football) has been." So he transferred for athletics???? Sounds like the Kephart story this year, with Portage only returning 5 lettermen from last year. Don't like the program? Go Private. No one will question it.
