If you really think your son/daughter is going to get a better education and leave high school better prepared for college coming from a public school, then more power to you. Do you seriously think the parents whose child is not involved in athletics but still pays McCort tuition do it to be part of a cult? See, I wasn't trying to get involved in the whole "transfers for athletic reasons". Even most of the people that say that will agree the education is a big bonus for those students... I just can't understand how you even remotely can knock the education a private school student can get.

I am not faulting the public school teachers that have left McCort for more money. In these tough economic times, you have to be able to support your family. I am just saying don't make the ones that have stayed sound inferior/low tier teachers. I appreciate a teacher that teaches for the passion of teaching, regardless of how much they make. The ones that stayed have a real devotion to the school and preparing the kids for college.

It really depends on your principal hoss. If he is academically driven, then sure, those lower tier, "dedicated", teachers will give it hell for prepping those kids for college. However, if the principal is athletically driven, then you can thank that principal for putting your Sunday, holy money, towards the next Rugg/Hawkins/Cruz.

So I just want to make sure I totally get what you are saying....you think the education at McCort is bad? First it was because the teachers are low tier, but now because the atheltic program gets all the money(in your opinion)... Just asking, because your reasons seem to be changing.

I'm still waiting for some facts to back up the claim that students at BM get more academic scholarships that the rest of the schools combined. Where are those supposed scholarships coming from? McCort alumn? How would a student from another school even get one of those? Test scores that place Westmont and Richland at the top can easily be found by Googling. All I am hearing are blind claims that "our education is better than everyone else's." I said it before - kudos to Bishop McCort for providing a great education, but I want to see an actual argument for a student transferring from Westmont or Richland for a "better education." On a sidenote, both Richland and Westmont sport excellent athletic programs in many sports. The LHAC All-Sport trophy is not on Osborne Street - it's in Westmont.

Yes roll-tide I'm saying that McCort kids couldn't fill in a coloring book. Listen D1ck Tracy, I'm saying that transferring for academic reasons is a joke. You're not getting a better education at your little cult school. You guys sound like Barry Bonds denying that he uses steroids. :-*

Personally, I would be referring to scholarships offered to students for college, not high school. I am not sure about the exact numbers, and am searching for lists I have seen in the past on exact amounts offered to different students. The list usually comes out after graduation. The only reference I can find online is this on the McCort website...

Annually, Bishop McCort graduates are offered millions of dollars in merit based grants and scholarships. Nearly one hundred percent of our students continue to a four-year college upon graduation.

I personally know students that have been offered money at almost every college they have applied to based on their high school grades and SAT/ACT test scoring. Some McCort students graduate with approximately 15-25 college credits already obtained by their AP or "college in high school" classes they take. I will not say they get more than the other schools combined. I don't know the exact figures to make that kind of claim.

I am just saying that is mind boggling to bash the education they receive.

okay, joy land, I wrote the above response before your post went up... but you saying the education is bad will at least give me a nice laugh all day today.

No problem. Since you came on here with your little cult chest puffed out and stated nothing to change my mind,
your 12 year old argument made me laugh for the day too. Go pull some facts up and come back when your more prepared. Maybe your cult should have taught you that.

Wait a second... I didn't see one thing where you PROVED the education was bad. That's why I am laughing. You went from an argument of low tier teachers to athletics get all the money.Still didn't see where you proved one thing. I at least backed up the scholarships offered side of my argument. I guess colleges just throw money out there to incoming students because the name McCort is on their diploma, doesn't matter about their academic records.. colleges are just throwing out those academic scholarships for no reason at all. I guess I will see what you try to use next, maybe the lunches are bad so the education must stink?
So I get that you think the education stinks. I don't have to prove the opposite, I at least supported my argument. You have nothing to back up yours.

And what are the scholarship numbers for Westmont and Richland? This isn't about what Bishop McCort accomplishes, it's what they have as compared to what Westmont and Richland have and why making a huge decision like switching from Westmont or Richland to Bishop McCort makes sense. Grades are grades and test scores are test scores. Are you saying that while students from Bishop McCort, Richland and Westmont all score very high are standardized tests only the students from Bishop McCort have a great chance of getting a scholarship? Why would that be?
