Bellwood dominated the line of scrimmage tonight and NBC had no answer for Gray and DeGennaro. Both of those boys ran hard as Bellwood controlled the clock with the running game.
NBC did have some nice pursuit from their LBs from time to time and had a fine defensive stand in the second half at their 1 yard line. But, Bellwood's line play was exceptional tonight. The RBs stayed behind their blockers with patience and then cut off the blocks with precision. Bellwood secondary also played well and made great breaks on the passes as thrown by Over. NBC was hampered by one obvious miss by the officials on a defensive pass interference (no call) in the first half deep in territory...but that call certainly did not determine the outcome of the game.
Bellwood has lots of weapons on offense and will be difficult to stop in D6 A playoffs...They seem to play with much confidence and do not make too many mistakes although two big roughing the passer penalties did hurt them early.
Nice crowd in Loysburg, but was not impressed with the crowd involvement on the home side...even though Bellwood was in command most of the game, a majority of the home fans sat in silence and watched...few words of encouragement or even cheering from the fans or cheerleaders for a 7 - 0 team....go figure.
NBC will certainly regroup after not facing a team of the calibur of Bellwood and will most likely not see another opponent of Bellwood's level until deep in the D5 playoffs. Was impressed with #21 Diehl as he made plays on both offense and defense as well as #84 (DB) for NBC...played tough.
All in all, nice evening for hs football at a beautiful stadium.

Nice summary of the game life hunts. I have to tip my hat to the players of NBC, they came to play tonight and did not disappoint. They really know how to hit hard and tackle, best team this year that I've seen so far. That goal line stance in the 3rd quarter turned the momentum, only to have it dashed 3 plays later with the pic-6. Very good game to watch, glad I was there. Way to go BIG BLUE!!!!

Yep, Bellwood secondary was the difference in my opinion. Northern's wideouts couldn't get any separation all night. Speed > Size. The height advantage didn't matter much for NB because the BA DB's were all over them. Casey Gray had one of the best INT's I've ever seen. Went up with 6'5" Kyler Diehl and came down with a one-handed pick. Redic play.
I thought NB's defense played pretty well overall. Bellwood broke only one big play that I recall, but it was 4-5-6 yards on what seemed like every single play. BA won 1st and 2nd down all night, setting up a lot of 3rd and 3's, 4th and 2's. I wasn't real impressed with Bellwood's line actually. I thought the line play was pretty even, but Bellwood's skill players are special. They are all fast and run hard with a purpose. Gray, Worthing, Worthing, O'Shea, Degennero....that's a lot of great athletes for an 'A' school. The type of team that could give them trouble down the road however is a team with a strong front 7 and solid running game. It will be interesting to see what happens between BA and Richland in two weeks, but I think the Richland running back could have a big night against BA.

Bellwood proved tonight why it is always a contender for d6, Defense. Defense wins championships and that was the case tonight in the ICC. Looks like we might get LHAC vs ICC championship week 10

The much maligned (at least by Phil Cmor) BA secondary was outstanding last night. Just wondering if S Cube is counting all 3 int's (could have been 4 if not for a roughing the passer call) as real int's? I don't believe any of them were tipped balls, which he doesn't think is the QB's fault. All I heard from Cmor (Altoona Mirror writer) is how BA has given up over 100 yards passing in 4 straight games. That's not hard to do considering those games were well within hand and the JV's were playing halfway through the 3rd quarter. Thanks for the motivation Phil. Can't wait to see NBC's passing stats next week against Williamsburg. I'm sure they'll throw it 30+ times for over 200 yards and 3 or 4 TD's. Those kind of stats are much easier to attain against the Williamsburg's, Claysburg's, Tussey Mtn's, and West Branch's of the world. And for all you Panther fans out there looking for excuses, the penalties were fairly even (10-9)

Hello JoeBiv who had some comments on the B-A / NB game.
Your comment on officiating. Take the course and the classes to become a PIAA official you are needed.
The group is always short on numbers. If the Northern Bedford fans were complaining about the
officiating you may be deaf because the Bellwood side was complaing also. I saw one non-call that
should have gone against BA but it was missed. Did any blue / gold fans complain then?
Anyhow its a fast paced game, once in awhile the 5-6 officials will miss something or are you saying
they called too much?
And commenting about the NB fans, remember Joe what goes around comes around.
Just sit back and enjoy the game, watch the young men compete.

Trust me, I know BA has it's fair share of obnoxious fans. It's downright embarrassing at times. But a few NBC fans took it to an extreme in verbally attacking the BA coaches on the press box. I wasn't complaining about the officiating, nor was I saying they called too much. Sure there were missed calls, as there are in almost every game. I know how tough it it to officiate and am aware of the shortage of officials. The biggest problem is most officials are getting up there in age, and there aren't many younger guys to step in. It was a well played game. NBC has a nice team and I wish them well in representing the ICC in the D5 playoffs.

Wow Joe Bivitz coming hard.
Everyone has been praising the BA secondary after completely shutting down NB's passing game, I don't think anyone has any doubts about how good they are now.
Tipped balls are not a QB's fault at all in my opinion. And I don't mean balls tipped at the line. Over is 6'4", I don't think he has ever had a ball tiped at the line. I'm talking balls tipped off of receivers hands. That's on the wideouts.
Uhhhh BA plays in the same conference???? Pot calling the kettle black? BA has the opportunity to put up the same stats against the same teams. No need to indirectly bash NB's offensive players.
Anyone who mentioned penalties also said they didn't have a direct effect on the outcome. There was a missed PI call. Wouldn't have changed the outcome. There was an 'illegal hurdling' call, which may have been called a penalty for the first time in the history of football last night. Didn't have an effect on the final outcome. There were some bad calls. They didn't have an effect on the final outcome whatsoever though. Bellwood won. Northern Bedford lost. I don't think anyone made any excuses, just giving accounts of the game.

Ebersole is so fun to watch. I've never seen anyone have a motor like his in my life. He is a great player now, but if he had better size he would be an absolute monster.
