Love it guru!guru1 wrote:RudyB wrote:The PIAA is afraid to get involved in a lawsuit if they seperate the Catholic or Private schools from the Public Schools. However, there is a solution that I think is fair. I believe,(in the case of the Catholic Schools in our area), they should play in the classification in which their school resides. Meaning, McCort should be AAA based on the school district in which they reside.. Johnstown. Carroll should be AA based on their area in Central Cambria. Guilfoyle should be AAAA based on their pull with Altoona.
As for the Charter schools, it is ridiculous for them to compete with the Public Schools. Lincoln Park is a Charter school for Performing Art. Do you really believe that all their 6-7 basketball players play an instrument??? Maybe someone in our area such as Ebensburg start a Charter school for football. Im sure they would be playing at Hershey every year.
The effect on this really hurts Single A classification.
Also as for my picks, I hope its Portage vs. Homer Center.
WOW...give me a break. Guilfoyle has not made a district final in over 20 years and has only been relevant again last year and this. AAAA?? I can tell you this.. I dont know about BC or BM and I dont care but I can absolutely guarantee you nobody on the BG football team has any of their tuition paid by boosters or anyone else besides there parents,,, FACT

Re: The Public's vs The Private's.....
The transfer issue could be resolved simply - (all) transferees are ineligible to participate in athletics at their new school for their first year. Instead they would be assigned eligibility at a neighboring school district for the first year.
Alternatively (all) could be adjusted to lessen the number of students impacted, could be only those with varsity experience, only if transfer challenge by another school, only if tranfer to a school that placed in the district the prior year, etc.
With this being said I don't think that the PIAA particularly cares about the topic, as long as they aren't being sued.

The issue that upsets me and is currently happening kids transferring because of religious reasons but younger brothers stay at the public school. How does that happen one needs religion the other doesn't. Its just a joke anymore I don't know what's worse the PIAA or NCAA.

If you have proof, go to the PIAA and stop it from happening.
why didn't these athletes and there parents go to the PIAA?
free transportation? transportation is provided by the public schools to BM andBC
The physical proof is when the male that attended Bishop McCort as a lineman sat with my family at the BM/PM playoff game a few years ago. He attends college with my daughter and told us the whole story. He laughes pretty hard about it. And as far as the PIAA- I am still searching for the newspaper article published a year or so ago. A reporter did an investigation into the PIAA. This topic is one that he covered. An anonymous source in the PIAA told the reporter they are well awhare of what goes on but really don't care. The PIAA receives too much money from people that don't want it changed. (i.e. Alumni)
LMAO
yep, that would hold up in court,
this is the funniest post i have seen in a long time. They recruit because this kid said they do. well, sir I was recruited by Bobby Bowden to play at Florida State, and you know it's true because I told you. Give me a break. Any kid can brag that they were recruited,
anonymous sources and some kid bragging he was recruited don't prove anything. Could you please bring a little more to the table when you say you have proof that these schools recruit. Maybe you can get Dateline to do a special on it and when Kevin Sheridan or Greg Snyder or Justin Wheeler show up at the house, Chris Hanson could pop out and have them on camera.
If there is so much recruiting going on, please explain to me why BC sucked last year and BM sucked this year. Why would these boosters with such deep pockets let their alma mater struggle.
As far as the 3 girls recruited to BC (Konjo i'm sure you know all 3) the school said Oh well it happens and there is nothing we can do about it.

No this was a few years ago. They did very well in Basketball and volleyball while those 3 were there.

Re: The Public's vs The Private's.....
I have always felt transfers should be ineligible for varsity play for 1 year unless a family physically moves. This would apply to all They should be allow to practice and play JV. This rule should also be in place for districts like the City of Pittsburgh were students have multiple choices of schools to attend. In Pittsburgh and such districts the choice of school must be made before day 1 of the students freshman year. I would also like to see this rule extend to those who transfer to a private school and didn't attend an elementary in that private schools system. This would be really dampen athletic transfers. For the Bishops and St. Joe's this would mean students that didn't attend a catholic elem would be ineligible for varsity play as a freshman. If the student transferred from a public school as a freshman and can still play a JV or Freshman schedule this rule would only effect the likes of the Schilling's, Kephart's and certain lift scholarship students and have very little effect on students who transferred for education, religion or any other non-athletic reasons.
Re: The Public's vs The Private's.....
That just makes TOO MUCH sense, therefore, it'll never fly. BTW, did anyone else notice, this particular thread was -NOT- started by either El Moldo or myself. My opinion, BM is off kilter this year, mainly due to the resignation of HIS MAJESTY Salem, in the wake of the Father Baker scandal. Lots of fallout all over the place. Kids don't like the new coach, therefore won't run thru brick walls for him. Formerly supportive parents are pulling back. Same as boosters. The drama continues. What I don't understand about BG, is they are from the same diocese, so why wouldn't they have the same parent/ booster support that BM and BC does? Kinda fishy.
It ain't over until it's over.
