I am pretty tired of hearing all the vague generaliztions from you (and others) about what Ridge needs to do to build the type of program you want. you say that they currently lack vision, what is your vision? What should the administration and school board members do, EXACTLY, to bring about the kind of change you are looking for? I don't want to hear any more problems without a solution attached to it. It is easy to complain, especiallly form 1000 miles away.

General Studies right now, my major is undecided as of this point.

I know I don't agree with you at times but from here you put a lot more thought into what you write than most people. Plus you got the right genes (from both sides!) not to take crap from people. I'd say you're a natural. There are a lot of aging babyboomer teachers who are going out to pasture in the next 10 years.

ham, why should you be rewarded by playing your own level??? the reward should be for defeating a higher classificaion and the "punishment" should come from playing a lower classification. YOURE AA YOURE SUPPOSED TO PLAY AA TEAMS why should you be rewarded for that?

I'm really hoping that was full of sarcasm. Really really really hoping it was. I agree you should be punished from playing a lower classification, and rewarded for playing higher, but actually playing @ or above should get more of the reward. Not at 2 times a year and below from there on out.

ham what your saying is like a person bragging about how theyve never been to jail, YOUR NOT SUPPOSED TO GO TO JAIL!!! why should you reward teams for playing teams that they are SUPPOSED to play? i thought you were smarter than that ham. a AA school is a AA school is a AA school, period, if youre AA and you play AA and win, then why should you be rewarded more? with the exception of ridge, what AA school in district 6 plays a schedule consisting of more A than AA schools??? youre letting your ridge prejudice cloud your judgement on this one, all your system does is gives more points to everyone BUT ridge.

I would suggest you go and poll the current administration and school board members. Ask them specific questions about the status of their football program. They would tell you that it is successful. Ask them to define success: they would respond by saying that winning games and filling the stands on friday night. Ask what their goals are for the future: they would answer see previous response. You would be hard pressed to find a decision maker that would tell you they want or even care if they ever win their district much less a state title. Therefore you achieve what you strive for.

I would be happy to be proven wrong on this one.

Emotional ploy: when it has been brought up in the past about improving the athletic programs at CR the response consistently has been :"we cant spend money on sports when we cant afford new text books, are you suggesting that we put balls ahead of algebra books?" Whats not emotional about that statement? We all want our children to walk away from high school with a diploma and mentally prepared to face the world. So any good parent would say, forget the sport and buy the book. The reality is CR would not have to spend one more dollar on athletics to improve their program. I would be happy to spell that out if you would like. Its all been suggested before.

There are plenty of examples around the countryside where a single school offers excellence in both the classroom and the athletic field.
