hahaha... funny guys....

seriously.... if you don't want to discuss these things, don't pollute the thread with meaningless jim jam..... actually, count... up there ^^ what i meant to say was.... "every religion believes it's true... so how is Christianity different??? it's not a religion...." i didn't mean to say that. but yea, it is pretty darn funny how it came up....

but anyways.... you guys say Jesus was a good person... so how do you base what is "good".... talk to a satanist... he obviously won't think Jesus was a good person... so who's right?? you or him.... there's only three things you can attribute to Jesus....

he was a liar....

he was completely insane....

or he was who he said he was....

now, would a liar die for his beliefs??? and would a liar be able to perform the miraculous signs and wonders he did?? no....

would an insane person be as gentle as Jesus was with little children and whatnot? no.....

if he was God, would it make sense??? no..... is it true?? yes.....

the thing about this is.... you guys say he was a good person... how do you know??? cause if you don't believe the Bible is true, you can't base your opinions off of the Bible, and therefore you don't believe anything about Jesus.... you can't just take some of the Bible and not other parts of it.....

Count.... you said about the smugness of Christians.... i know completely what you mean..... believe it or not, i am rather shunned in my church... God knows why.... i hate it there... in reality, i have no desire to go.... does that mean i'm not a Christ-follower?? no.... being a "christian" is not about going to church... it's not about saying the right things or doing the right things or wearing the right clothes... it's not about who you know..... it's about who you believe in.... Jesus.... it's a personal relationship with God..... and if you have a personal relationship with Jesus, then i welcome you into the family bro, but that means that you also believe Christ's teaching... (the bible)

how is christianity not a religion?

"would a liar die for his beliefs???" according to you Muslims are liars... they die for what they believe.

i don't think anyone is arguing with the gospels except for the fact that they didn't put all the gospels written by the apostles into the bible. why is it that the gospel according to Thomas, Judas, Andrew, etc. are not in the bible? there were 12 apostles weren't there (or 13 if you've ever watched Dogma )? everyone here i think believes in Jesus and even if they don't that doesn't mean they automatically go to hell. If they believe in God and live a good life i don't see how God can condemn them to an eternity of suffering. It just doesn't make sense and if it makes sense to you than there's gotta be something wrong.

Count, it has already been stated that other gospels were not included because they did not date back to the first century and they were not being used in the early church. The fact that they were not included in the Bible does not make them false. Most of them do not contradict what is in the Bible.

Your point about Muslims is a valid one and I agree that just because he died, that does not mean he was not a liar. However, I don't know of any Muslims who have risen from the dead.

I agree that the condemning to hell of good people does not make sense, but I think one of the biggest problems in the church is humans deciding exactly who is condemned. Every church has its own idea of how a person accepts Christ's sacrifice. Your story about someone saying that you have to stand in front of the church and accept Christ is an example. I think God knows what is in a person's heart and Christ reveals himself to people in many ways. In the same way, I think it is possible that people can accept and follow him in many ways. Now, I did stand in front of the church and give a testimony of how I accepted Christ, but I am pretty sure that is not the only way do it.

Finally, Dogma is a great movie and anyone who enjoys this sort of elevated religious discussion should find it humorous, if they don't take it too seriously.

i agree FW.....

but the fact is, the muslims believe that what they are dying for is true... a liar knows he's telling a lie, thus the name..... if Jesus knew that what he was saying wasn't true, then he wouldn't have died for it....
