Playoff Primer 11/18/11
Re: Playoff Primer 11/18/11
I joined this topic to rebutt Joy-land saying the teachers are low tier and the education is bad. I never said Westmont and Richland kids don't get scholarships. I was just asking Joy-land to support his argument that the students at McCort get a bad education. I backed up the opposite by presenting the scholarships they do receive. I have not had one bad thing to say about the education anywhere if you read back. I was just asking Joy-land on what he based his opinion about the bad education at McCort.
I am all for school loyalty. But to blindly bad mouth the education offered by a school , just because you are anti-McCort for everyting is pretty close-minded. Support your teams, support your programs, but to do so in the same breath you tear down some else's WITH NOTHING to back it up is ridiculous. I didn't bad mouth anyone's educational prospects here. I just endorsed McCort's.
I am done with this because it has now become pointless. I haven't seen one fact from Joy-land to support his opinion that the education offered by MCCORT is bad or inferior. You can pull some articles about private school vs. public, but until you can pull something that shows McCort students do not excel academically, there is no point.
I'll just sit her and drink my koolaid now, you guys have fun with this. I'm done.

I'm not trying to be a smart a$$, but, when a million dollars is donated to McCort by the Bach family why wasn't this money spend on a new science or computer lab to better academic? It was spend on a atheltic training center to compete with what Forest Hills and Richland already has.

If this Bach fellow is a doctor of some sort, wouldn't you think he would have favored better education facilities instead of athletics?

From the looks of fris game BM must have put a few punching bags in there
Re: Playoff Primer 11/18/11
I see roll-tide, like thousands of others who read the Tribune, has bought into the propaganda that McCort senior students ANNUALLY get offers of millions of dollars in college scholarships and financial aid. Talk about deception. The KEY to disputing these ads is the word "offers". Here's how it works. There is no doubt that BM has several real smart kids. These students are so smart, that they each may receive SEVERAL full scholarship offers. These schools may be the likes of St. Francis, Duquesne, St. Vincent etc etc who have annual tuitions of say $30,000 to $40,000. So let's say one students gets 5 OFFERS. Now as everyone knows, a student can accept only ONE OFFER. He/she cannot go to 5 schools, just one. So the student picks ONE school and accepts a full tuition OFFER from that school. He however DECLINES the other 4 offers. Well, at $35,000/year for 4 years, this totals $140,000 of free education. BUT...the student has turned down 4 other similar offers totalling $560,000. Bishop McCort, however, considers ALL $700,000 in their TOTAL AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIPS OFFERED TO THEIR STUDENTS. You do this for several students and your school's total BALLOONS to some astronomical amount of scholarship money, MOST OF WHICH WILL NEVER BE USED OR ACCEPTED!!!!!! To look like some beacon of education, BM uses this technique to tell people and parent's of prospective students how wonderful their education system is. This is like double-dipping. So when you hear that BM students get millions of dollars of scholarships every year, you're hearing the biggest educational scam ever thought of in our area.

As you are a piaa official I wonder if you have ever officiated a "McCruit" contest before?dadw/2sons wrote:Do you notice that when the facts are laid out that they can't refute how quickly the McCruit supporters calm up? I am a public school teaher and I can quarantee you that every McCort teacher would leave and go piublic if they had a chance because of the money issue. That doesn't make us better teachers because of our pay but it does say that McCort teachers are one who haven't been able to get hired at the public schools. So where are you Jack, Crimsom Ghost andother McCruit supporters. Go ahead and try to refute the facts. And by the way when a kid leaves McCort leaves and goes back to public he HAS to go back to where he lives, he doesn't get to choose to go where he wants to that is the law!!

Why the necessity to dredge up a 7 year old thread, just to make a comment on it?
It ain't over until it's over.
