El-moldo your statement about a automatic ejection is not correct. Contact needs to be helmet to helmet to a defenseless player, or flagrant. QB does not give himself up in high school by sliding feet first, he can be contacted. However once he is down he can no longer be contacted, same as any other runner. The slide makes no difference. Didn't see the hit. Not saying whether the kid hit him flagrant or not just clarifying an electable offense.

Thank you. You just described the hit Friday night. That definitely proves he should have been ejected. Believe me, NOBODY knows the rules better than the FH staff. When has ANYONE seen the FH coaching staff flagged for "vigorously questioning" a call? And it wasn't because FH wanted to win the game, but to PROTECT the FH players. Also, there was another incident in the 4th quarter that could have resulted in an ejection. FH's TE caught a pass and was hit hard enough to have him lose his helmet. As the player was brought down, he was piled onto by some BC defenders. ONCE a player loses his helmet, you CANNOT hit him on the ground.

If a player in possession of the ball loses his helmet the play is blown dead right away regardless of whether he is down or not. A player who loses his helmet but doesn't possess the ball must quit participating in the play. If he doesn't quit it is an illegal participation penalty on that player. If the whistle was blown like it should

like I was saying... If the whistle blew like it should have been (I wasn't there so I don't know) the player would not have even needed to be down for a late hit to be called.

Thanks again, as was the case at FH. BC players piled on to a helmetless player.
