How old is he? I hope him well but can understand if he doesn't play for a very long time because a stroke at his age is unreal

He is 26. It is pretty unreal... Apparently he has a small hole in his heart that may have contributed to this. Hopefully it isn't career altering but certainly seems like a serious situation.

Orpik getting cut up for that second goal last night is starting to become a regular thing. Hate to say it, but maybe the popular opinion is right, maybe he is slowing down.

I like Brooks but he got embarrassed more than once in Sochi and Towes put him on a poster Saturday. You can win in the NHL with him as your 5/6 DMan but not 1-4. He is wearing down and wearing down fast. I'd love for someone to overpay for him and get flipped for a couple picks, thats about all he is worth at this point. If, which is an extremely large if, the D was healthy I could see this happening but it won't.

I think Shero has something big in the works and I hope I'm right. I know it's only been 2 games but this team just seems stale after the break. They absolutely can't win going forward with that junk on the 3/4 line. You should have 3 of those guys on an NHL Roster... not 10 or whatever they have right now. I like Brian Gibbons but he is a 3rd liner... not Sid's winger. With the cap situation and all the injury unknowns I'm not really sure what Shero is going to do but he is going to need to get creative or this team won't make the ECF let alone win a Cup.

I sense a trade with a western team. A team like San Jose or Vancouver or Anaheim. Guys that I think are on the chopping block: despres, bortuzzo, sutter and Orpik. Guys I would like to see come in: Getzlaf, Kessler, perry, possibly an early draft pick to try to snipe a young d-man. A man can hope

You can scratch Getzlaf and Perry of your wish list no way in hell that'll happen

Kesler trade seems to be down to 3 runners. Flyers, blackhawks and penguins. I really hope he is going to the pens because that is the best fit for him.

Hence why I said a guy can hope, no need to throw cuss words around.

A deal was proposed today to the front office of Vancouver, it's all in their hands now. It's a pretty hefty deal for them but also will hurt them, lets face it, in hockey prime age is anywhere from 27-30, Ryan is 28 I believe. Hes got a lot of years left in him. Would love to see him in a penguin uni

No way San Jose or Anaheim are going to be "sellers" at the deadline. The Ducks have the most points in the league and the Sharks aren't far behind... It's fun to dream up trade scenarios but at the same time try and be realistic... nothing with Getzlaf or Perry is realistic.

Of the guys you listed only Despres and Sutter have any real worth. Orpik is at the end of the road and a FA at end of the year... no way he gets more than a pick in return unless he is part of some bigger package. Bortuzzo is a dime a dozen guy in the NHL and will never really be more than a 5/6 DMan going forward.

I think the pens are in a real situation here. You can't be buyers every single year at the deadline without hurting the long term growth of the organization. I know I've said this before but why not go after Vanek. That would solidify Sid's line until Dupois is healthy next year and allow a potential 3rd line of Sutter, Bennett, and Gibbons in the playoffs. I think you can win with that. Selling the farm for Kesler could be really costly in a few years when the pens can't sign him under the cap and then they don't have Sutter or Kesler.
