Week 2 Surprises?

This has seriously gone to far. I remember a few years ago FH played at somerset and Don B was throwing screen passes in the 3rd quarter up 45-0. Dont start making accusations of other teams when its just the pot calling the kettle black. Its over with now. Both teams have 8 more games. Focus on those and lets start debating something new!

Don Bailey didn't start his first year of coaching with a championship team. You learn to take your lumps. He is also from a tough, coal-mining town where you learn to give as good as you get. I'm sure many of those early losses were one-sided **** whippings HE did not forget. When the chance came for him to return in kind what he'd gotten earlier, he took it, and in the process, showed you reap what you sow. Over the years, Somerset has taken their lumps, but now dish it out. That's the way the cycle goes. I'm sure the Eagles "will get theirs" again. The circle comes around. That goes for any team, esp. those scoring 87 on a team, regardless of how bad the opponent was, and coaches who onsides kicks up 40 or 50 points, and those who go for 2 up by 4 TD's. "a screen pass"? That all you got? What is the guarantee a screen pass is going to work any more than any other play? You really had to reach for that one.

...Honestly. I wish TheRealBleacherCoach would have just let this topic die. But instead, he just had to get a jab in about Don Bailey and screen plays. Didn't want to so this, but here's why Coach Landis tried to "rub it in" last Friday.
...Last year, FH traveled to Somerset. It was mid-October, and cold as hell for that time of year. FH was riding a 22 game winning streak against Somerset. The Eagles were psyched, and knew they had a great chance to win. Sure enough, the Eagles took it to the Rangers, and had a 4 or 5 touchdown lead going into the 4th quarter. About the 10 minute mark, Landis decides to pull his starters and insert his second stringers. Since he had a big lead, it was HIS perogative to do so. The Rangers, however, decided to keep their starters in. Nothing wrong with that. They weren't quite ready to wave the white flag. With all the injuries they had during the season, and the playoffs approaching, it made sense for Bailey's team to keep playing and practicing. By the score of the game, everyone could see they needed it.
...So what happened next? FH scores a TD, then gets the ball back, and Sharif Blough rips off something like a 73 yard TD run. By now, realizing he had jumped the gun about pulling his varsity from the field, Landis looked like a doofuss when he had to re-insert his starters back onto the field to put the fire out. I'm sure that didn't sit well with him and his coaching staff. Talk about looking bad. My guess is that's why he went for two with a big lead Friday night. A bit of revenge for the way last years game went. No one likes to have egg on their face. Guess rubbing it in was his way of making some kind of statement.
...Last year, Somerset fans chastised FH for NOT putting their JV's in when Somerset did. We had a lively discussion about this. And what did we come up with? When a losing team finally waves the white flag, the team with the big lead should do the same. However, if a team with a big lead chooses to insert his junior varsity, the losing team does NOT have to do so. Irregardless, I'm sure Landis was upset with the way the game ended the night Somerset finally beat the Rangers. Hence the 2 point conversion against the Rangers this year for absolutely NO reason, except to rub it in a little.

Im not going to argue with any one about the 2 point conversion try. Nobody knows why it happened. Maybe the kicker was feeling tight or sick etc. We dont know so lets let it at that. Im a big Somerset fan and everyone on here knows it I believe. Im sure anyone who knows Coach Landis will agree he would never intentionally try to embarrass a team. Being his first head coaching position he is probably learning more stuff as his years and knowledge grow. Maybe somerset has a few things to learn about winning but the only people complaining here are the FH fans. Nobody else. Maybe, just maybe FH needs to learn how to be humble in defeat and take it on chin once in a while without finding something to complain about. As my last comment said lets move on.

Why should anyone else be complaining? THEY weren't offended. And don't forget, it was west33 who started all of this. If you're gonna call someone out, be prepared for a response. We ARE gracious in defeat, until someone ISN'T humble when they defeat us.

LOL 9 pages because a team scored 1 more point than the losing team thinks they should have. How does everyone feel about the going for 2 with a 33 point lead? If my team is down 33 I hope the opposing team goes for 2 every time. Get the clock running and let's get out of there. I can't wait for pages 10, 11,12.............

At least there may be a REASON for getting to THIRTY-FIVE. Like you said, to get the clock moving. BUT what's the REAL reason to get 31 instead of 30? And it's not getting that ONE more point that matters. It's the principle of the thing. You just don't do that to other teams.

Why was Football Hills's QB still in the game on defense in the second half with his team up by 28 against a hapless single A team in week one?

He was in the game because it was his POSITION on defense! Not like he was some secret weapon, just back there to demoralize BMCHS. If you want to make an argument about that, lets revisit last years' Somerset game, where Stull re-enters the game @ QB, and proceeds to score another TD!
