The name says it all!

I garantee bedford would have more wins than ridge playing ridge's schedule.

I dont wanna sling mud with you coach. I think your posts are meaningful. I also have no problem with saying barefoot did more with less. Therefore he deserves mvp this year. You just can't say he's a better basketball player.

HOLY FFDKLJF;LJDDAJDFD

I am sick of you guys... I didn't say he was better? We discussed outstanding player versus valuable.

If you have two players...no names attached. 20 game season.
Player A: 20 ppg on a team that wins 2 games
Player B: 19 ppg on a team that wins 12 games.

The schedules vary, BUT the past shows the Player A's team never beat up on the other schools that Player B's team played anyway.

Who wins the MVP? Player A or Player B?

My bigger is better theme for HS sports. I'd like to see what HR says about that. MOST OF THE TIME, the bigger is better just because of numbers. A point HR made to me before when discussing some things... Central beat Hburg before and Hburg beat Toona so Central could beat Toona? Well he had this to say...if Hburg beats Toona 1 out of 10 times and CHS beats Hburg 1 or 2 times out of 10.

Then Central would probably beat a team like Altoona only once or twice every 100 years. Private schools can compete with big schools because they don't have a boundry. They have more kids from better homes. Many times those kids come from families with enough $$ to keep the kid from working which means more time devoted to sports.

Why are you sick of everyone... b/c they disagree with what you say?? This site would be pretty stupid if everyone got along. I do believe you said about 3 pages ago that you were done with this topic... maybe you should follow through with what you said and let it go. The people gettin most worked up about this are friends, teammates and classmates of Troys... and then theres you! Just let it go man...

In answer to your question both players completely deserved this award. I'm just not convinced that this award should solely be decided on a players effect on his team. Put A.J. nastasi on Hyndman. He scores 45 ppg and carries the team to win 14 games that season. He wins the MVP because "he had a huge impact on his team" Then you put him on a team with 2 other excellent shooters and 2 good inside men. They go undefeated and he averages 20 ppg. He doesn't win the mvp because without him his team would still have gone undefeated.

I completely understand where you're coming from with the more with less, less with more, and that makes sense.

But, look at my situation, thats two cases with the SAME player. That's saying that same player wins the MVP award based upon how scrubby the guys around him are.

So obviously your "most valuable player to his team" doesn't pan out 100% of the time. I'm sure mine doesn't either which is why the definition of this word is so ambiguous.

Did they need co-MVP's? Maybe. Who knows. However, I don't believe i've shown bias on this situation. Ever since I started posting here, with the exception of posts on the stampede, I feel i've posted in an unbiased manner.

I am sick of the fact that we make post after post and I don't care about disagreement, BUT I never said Barefoot was a better player.

I'm not out to have everyone agree, but NO ONE told me why Barefoot shouldn't have been named MVP.

I got disgusted with constant questioning and people trying to turn things around on me. If someone told me why BB didn't deserve MVP then fine. Just saying someone from a team with much less win-wise and nearly identical stats SHOULD have won...come on now....I didn't agree with that and I wanted it to be known.

As I said about things taken out of context...
Why are you sick of everyone...
Well, I wasn't sick of everyone...I said you guys...meaning the guys that refused to answer my question and instead chose to just say he should have with no real reasons.

Whatever....people can agree to disagree.

That is a very good example there (if what you are saying is there are two guys the same year with these credentials. Say AJ and Phil. AJ is on the Hyndman team and Phil is on the great team....) That is what I was looking for...

That is a tossup to the people making the call. Some people look at stats...some people look at wins. If the team would have won 1-2 games without him...he made that team competitive. He got WINS which is key. At the same time...taking a guy like AJ off the old NB teams...(he did score more than 20 ppg though...nearly 40 SR year) then that team is NOT the same team.

This decision is truly in the eye of voter then. A 14 win turnaround from basically zero yearly to a guy on an undefeated team. Tough call...but if both teams make the playoffs then it goes either way.

sorry to get you fired up coach, i didnt mean the YOU in "you can't tell me he's a better player" wasnt referring to you, coach. Just in general.

I totally agree with you coach. Barefoot deserves mvp. bc he did more with less. Thats the best line this whole thread has.

and just for the record I attempted to tell you why barefoot didn't deserve it but i didn't have his stats. I was hoping to get his fg% because i believe it would be a low number.

Other than that I have nothing. He did deserve it.

But so did someone else.

It is fine to get me fired up...as theoneandonly stated this site would be dumb without it. It was a heated discussion about sports...I ACTUALLY LOVE IT. I love to debate.

I was basing my opinion on VALUE. Others based their opinion on OUTSTANDING. In my opinion...they are two diff. things. If Harris was at Ridge and Barefoot was at Bedford... I would imagine Harris would have scored 26 PPG and Barefoot around 15. The thing is...that isn't how the geography plays out.

So to conclude....what I was saying all along. Barefoot had more VALUE while Harris would be more OUTSTANDING.

Winning 7 games doesn't impress me. Winning 15 or so does. Harris and BB swap places...I say the MVP swaps because BB would not have led Bedford to any more wins than what they had.

This might have opened a new can of worms, but the quote about more with less is what I was getting at. Given the same opportunity...Harris would have also done more with less...BUT...he didn't have that chance because he didn't play there.

PHEWWWWWWWWWW
