There is a difference. You showed three AAA sprint times(what I'd consider a sprint) as faster than the double A times (and the other was Kanuch, comeon...) Lewis's 2nd place 100 would have been (barely) 7th in AAA. 3rd place in the AA 4 would have been 9th (or out of the finals) in AAA. The 200 and 800 are comparable. Now with the sticks, speed is important, but Kiss has SKILL. He is so smooth. The short sticks were mainly better AA times, the long sticks better AAA.

Girls times are close with AAA having slightly better 100, 200, HH, LH. The 400 and 800 were very even...

By the way, where did BMc find Julie Morey? I don't remember her running against Vera...

AAA has more depth in there teams though so it would be closer in times i would think to each other even if the AA winners are ahead of the triple a competiters!

I agree that AAA has more dept. I was not trying to say that AA is better than AAA. I was just pointing out that some of the AA times were better.

cuz the winners of AA had stronger times then AAA which almost never happens!

In Districts 5/6 class AA has more depth, quite simply because there are more TEAMS. D-5/6 AAA has maybe 8 teams, whereas 5/6 AA has 30+ teams.

Usually, however, the top 2-3 runners in AAA have better times/distances in most events...However, 6 AA has been strong the past few years. If you look at the 5th-6th place times, AA will have better times that AAA in a lot of cases.

Someone post the District 5 and 6 track results next week for AA and 6-AAA and see if my theory holds true.

I KNOW that you District 5 diehards like HR will crush me on this one, but District 5'stimes are horrible on a state level, in most cases particularly the 4th-6th place times.

Titan, there is no denying that D5 times don't hold up well compared to the rest of the state. However, D5 is by far the smallest in the state and for the most part has very small schools. When you only have around 12 schools competing and most schools are small, and then you throw them in a rural area to boot, you're not going to get the same results as the other districts. It's a numbers game. That is why D1 is usually the best in the state....more people to choose from.

I suppose we will have the annual D5 vs D7 AA Fantasy Dual meet again to prove you wrong W~T. 5-AA Boys is pretty strong this year. There are already in the neighborhood of 15 individuals or relay teams in Boys alone who have hit the State qualifying standard.

Barring bad weather, it will be a good year for D5 boys.

i agree there head roadie D5 def. has more guys who are better then in previous years but what i was saying about more depth is not so much how many teams but how many are on each team and those AAA teams have more guys they can train better! so usually they will have the 1 guy from each team that is going to be better vs AA! and i think all the better aa guys over the triple a guys at wcc's were from district 5 except for the mile and 2 mile!

The WCC meet was not restricted to District 5 and 6 schools. Schools like Bradford, Punxy, Indiana, Derry, Boiling Brook, Northeast, Elk County Catholic, etc. were also there, representing both AAA and AA. That is what makes the meet such an excellent contest.

With only nine teams at the District 6 AAA championships, Mansion Park looks like a ghost town by comparison.

jolly green, the AAA and AA district 6 meet is held the same day...to prevent this "ghost town" that you speak of


also i remember either last year or the year before (maybe even both i cant remember) i compared results from districts 5, 6 and 7 AA and the WPIAL would have cleaned up majorly had it been a real meet, its a given that with the rare exception of a few atheletes here and there, district 5 and 6 will almost never be serious statewide contenders...in ANY sport
