Wow! Didn't think that way either. Great job Spring Cove School Board. It is always great to have Tussey Mountain alumni around you as much as possible in life's tough tasks.

Central Job

There have only been two apps. from inside the system - AJ and Jerry. There is no teaching job as of yet. AJ was "O" coordinator, Jerry was "O" line and Special Teams Coach. I have been the "D" coordinator since 1992. As for a previous comment about Coach Nastasi bringing back "discipline and respect" to the program, that would imply that there hasn't been any. Coach Krider is one of the finest coaches the area has ever seen - not to mention the finest example for kids. He has lead the Central football program to prominence throughout most of the '90's and before that, completely resurrected the C-K program. Not to mention that he mentored Jeff Lingenfelter, Max Shoemaker, Doak Hoenstine - all of whom have had much success as head football coaches themselves. Our program has struggled in recent years, but not because of lack of discipline, or because of a move to the LHC. Although the LHC is an extremely competitive league, please remember that the top teams from the Big Eight still beat the top teams from the LHC - i.e. Huntingdon and Tyrone. Top to bottom, the LHC is currently stronger, but that will eventually change - H.S. sports are, indeed, cyclical. One final note, Beerbelly has had a lot to say about me, and none of it good, but please don't let one person's opinion define your perceptions.

ckchs coach. No one listens to anyone bashing on here. These people think coaching is so easy. It cracks me up reading some of these posts. Dont let one opinion bother you for the ones who really know you know you are a good coach. Coach Krider was a good coach and brought alot to the program. Shame someone has to be the FALLGUy when a program struggles some. Look at Dave Baker at Willamsburg when he was there. Man the guy had alot of outstanding teams but people tend to forget that. Do you have any opinion of will one of the asst coaches will get the job??

Thanks noname, but I still have a problem with people hiding behind anonymity when they're critical. It's far too easy to bash someone when you can't be held accountable. Excellent point with Coach Baker - people really don't know their history, he was one who I would never hesitate to let my son play for. A great coach and a great man. I'm really not sure who has the inside track on the Central job. Because it's basketball season, I don't hear much from over there. I've coached, and coached with, both Jerry and AJ and am confident that both would do a great job. I hope they allow Coach Krider, Dave Crumrine (HS Principal), and Fred Guyer, even though he's resigned, head the search committee. The three of them know the program better than anyone. One thing is sure, it will be interesting. I think that the district owes it to the kids to do things thoroughly, but in an expedient manner, so that they can begin preparing for next season. I know AJ is running the weight room now, but if there's a change in philosophy (offensively or defensively) they need the time to prepare.

ckchs coach your opinion on why last 3-5 years kids who could of been out and should of been out for football didint come out. I heard was so they could concentrate on baseball and play in a fall league. When central was kicking butt early mid 90's was these baseball kids coming out then??

Noname - I can't tell you why definitively, however, at Tyrone, prior to Coach Franco, they went through the same thing with the best boy athletes in the school playing only baseball and basketball. I think that when you go through a rough season or two, as everyone invariably does, kids perhaps re-think being involved, and question whether they want to put themselves through what they have to in order to be successful. Back in the early to mid-nineties at Central, to my knowledge, the athletes who were supposed to be out, were out. I could recite a litany of outstanding football players who were outstanding baseball and basketball players. But I do believe you're right, some have stopped playing football to focus on basketball, or baseball. It's a shame, too, because at a school the size of Central or many of the Double and Single A schools in the area, you need all the athletes participating or programs suffer. Not to mention that many who bypass football regret it later on. Unlike other sports you can play recreationally, football is a one-shot deal.

This is better than a mystery novel cause it is such a mystery. How many applied?? No one knows. Will they stay in house with coach hoenstine or albright?? Will there be any teaching openings available?? I do no of at least 4 guys who have applied for job and they are all good guys. I have nothing to do with this thing but I am real excited to see who gets hired.
