wolftickets wrote:District 5... will not stand a chance at regionals except for Roberts... In regards to Roberts, when is he going to step it up and gain some weight and wrestle with the big boys? Being a two time champ at 103 will not get you into any big time wrestling schools! The kid is a awesome wrestler at 103, However, I wonder if he can dominate at a 125 or 130 weight class?
Nick Roberts is ranked #1 in the nation at 103 and a returning state champ and a 4 time national champ. He is an extremely hard working and it has shown. I think that if he was bigger and weighed that much which he will either next year or his senior year he will be a very tough and could very possibly dominate if he works his butt off at those weights. Great young man to watch wrestle and hope him the best for the rest of this postseason.

Congrats to Bedford!!
Very close ending. I think 1,5 points for Bedford. I had predicted a 3 point win. Came dowm to Bedford Finalist getting falls. Niether Bedford or NBC wrestled as well as they would have liked I am sure.
103- Roberts is a pure beast.
119- So is Thomas.
125- Congrats to Lascari. I actually love watching these kids wrestle. But I was impressed with Cahill. He's tough.
130- slow match. kinda disapointing. Maust lost his cool. I think he woulda been better off cutting hossleroade lose to start the 3rd. He seemed to control what little action there was from the neutral position.
135- Trey Easter keeps getting better IMO. May get a state medal this year.
140- Great match. Hope to see it again. 2 tough kids.
152- Gibbons looked good tonight. Has a real tough regional weight. I think he's a state medalist.
160- Dibert may end up being CR's best. He's best fr. I've seen wrestle for CR.
I think this was a very competitive D-5 tourney. CT,Everett are both making comebacks. But all schools seem to have good young talent. Plus we will have Somerset in the mix next year.

...Terrible Terry Deihl wasn't so terrible after all.
Poor officiating was definitely key in the Shane match, that was either a takedown and a reversal, or no control at all. Not taking anything away from Shane, but that was a poor call, in my opinion.
Definitely a down year for the District 5 from the middle weights to the upperweights, to the mothers. Where are all the good looking mothers? I know, it's monday and some have jobs, but this was depressing.
You can talk down on the NBC fanbase all you want, but there was not an empty seat in that section from the first match of the night to the last...disrespectful or not, they love thier wrestling.

Ok I've got a little beef to settle here. I havent posted since early on in this thread and want to know one thing. MANY posters on here called 171 the "Weakest weight class" one even said "maybe the weakest weight class EVER in D5. If these statements are true, then how did the 3rd seeded wrestler at 171 (eventual D5 champ) beat the first seeded wrestler (eventual D5 champ) at 160 in their dual meet earlier this season? In my mind, that makes 160 weaker than 171. Maybe you all meant the depth at 171 makes it the weakest? Surely performance by the placewinners says different. And what in the world happened to the Shade wrestling team this weekend? Third, was Roberts really deserving of the OW? Yea, I know he's a state and national champ, but had NO competition at the D5 tournament. My vote would have been for Brown from TM or Shane from CR. Both were as equally deserving of the honor as Roberts was, in my mind. Lastly, don't hate NBC fans because of a few "bad apples". There are a few who do get totally out of control and are an embarrassment to the majority of us. I can't remember any of the stuff being directed at the wrestlers, though. Jarrett's officiating was just plain horrid all weekend, and a fan from ANY school should have seen that, and that is where most of the hollering and booing was directed.
