I never said that all football coaches are good. I basically said don't blame the coach whenever the athletes don't have the talent. Just because you say they are talented doesn't mean anything. If anything your opinion is biased because you played at Richland. Most people here agree that if the team is 2-4 its because they aren't as good as you think. END OF STORY.

Answer to the Richland problems: CONSOLIDATION. Will create competition and coaches won't have to beg sissy kids to come out for team or to be aggressive on field. this problem is not isolated to Richland. By having workable numbers kids can find their true places in life......some will be athletes while others will migrate to golf, tennis, band, chess club, the anti bullying society and a few will even become cheerleaders. As it now stands, with such piss ant sized enrollments in almost ALL AREA SCHOOLS, kids who should be playing tennis, golf, in the band, cheerleading etc are trying to play football and are able to make the team BECAUSE THERE IS ABSOLUTELY ZERO ZERO ZERO COMPETITION FOR TEAM SPOTS. It has become a complete JOKE and allows kids and parents to blame coaches for their inability to compete --- kids that in a NORMAL high school where COMPETITION is part of the equation, would never even be on the team.
This problem is not isolated to Richland -- it exists at almost every high school in the Greater Johnstown area.
Solution: ONE REGIONAL SCHOOL DISTRICT with one superintendant, one school board and consolidated purchasing power that oversees numerous grade schools, fewer jr high schools and maybe 4, AT THE ABSOLUTE MOST, high schools. Westmont, Ferndale, Con. Valley and JHS should be ONE HS. Windber, Richland, Forest Hills should be another. Portage, Central Cambria, Blacklick and Penn Cambria should be a third and there should be one in the norther part of the county.
Get numbers, get competition, allow coaches to coach instead of babysit and watch potential develop. If parents don't like it they can home school their kids.

This thread is redundant. I want to summerize my take on a couple things:
1. Lineman (along with every position) are developed over multiple years starting in pee wee's, junior high, then varsity with proper technique aqility, and strength developed over the years in season and off-season-this can overcame sheer size. Just looking at the stance hand placement, etc, fundementals need worked on my at richland-its honestly not rocket science just take a lot of reps.
2. Sucessful coaches coaches at the high school level (especially smaller schools), tend change their offenses and defesnes to from year to year based on the type of talent they have i.e. lets not try to fit a round peg into a square hole-see Richland's offense the first couple games.
3. Surround yourselves with assistants who have winning experience in football-(and listen to them), not guys who are your neighbors, friends, and family-yes men.
