Penn State Recruiting Update (just for Wildcat)

This one goes out to my buddy Former Wildcat, who appreciates college football recruiting and hockey.

The Nits are in the lead for a QB from Philly named Curtis Drake. He's a 3-star player. However, PSU wants him as a CB, and Drake wants to play QB in college. The two teams (so far) that are battling for Drake are PSU and Georgia Tech. After a little investigation, I found that G-Tech was in the lead for a 4-star QB from Indiana named Jordan Luallen. Well, it just so happens that about 2 hrs after I uncovered this, Luallen ended up committing to Georgia Tech. That should boost PSU's stock on the Curtis Drake Stock Exchange.

In RB news, the Nits are daintily sashaying on the trail of a kid in upstate NY named Curtis Dukes (not to be confused with the above mentioned QB). Dukes is 6'2" 235 and runs a 4.4 forty. Here's what Scout said: "Dukes rushed for 900 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior, however his statistics were drastically altered as his team was constantly up by a large margin by halftime." I like the sound of that. PSU is battling with Syracuse, and apparently Buffalo offered him today as well. PSU has NOT offered him yet. Maybe we'll wait until the last minute and blow another RB opportunity. Let me guess, there's 5-star RB's in CA and TX that PSU thinks they have a chance of attaining.

On a side note: Steelton-Highspire RB Jeremiah Young, who looked like a million bucks in the state title game last season, still has not gotten an offer to play anywhere. Another case of a quality player expressing interest in PSU and them scoffing at it. Take a guess where this kid has already attended a camp: Pitt. Watch and see if this won't be another good player that chooses Pitt because Penn State is half-asleep at the wheel.

Yes, I am still irritated at how they handle their RB recruiting, and I was very irritated at how they balked on Bloi-Dei Dorzan last year. Dorzan was a JUCO from Scranton that said publicly that he wanted to go to Penn State. All PSU needs is RB depth, which they have very little of. It was late in the recruiting year, all they had to do was pick up ONE RB. But, they had their sights set on an overload of players at other positions, and were not able to bring in a RB. Dukes has Penn State RB attributes. Let's hope we don't drop the ball yet again.
