I think Vman will appreciate this one. But for all the wrong reasons.

Remember also, two of those non BCS games was against Notre Dame. So in reality 20 of the 36 games was against BCS teams.

Wait...ham55 said games against NC don't count toward games vs. a BCS conference school...

People are obviously right when they say that Saban is a better coach than Mike Shula, but that Alabama team wasn't a doormat. Penn State should have been playing Alabama this year. Now, granted, I am glad they aren't, but I think you guys are somewhat overreacting when you bash the OOC schedule.
FIU sucks, obviously, but I think even you Pitt fans will agree that Buffalo is pretty good. Remember: Turner Gill did NOT recruit Drew Willy. Buffalo gave PSU fits last season in the first half. They played Coastal Carolina, alright, that's a FCS school, but everyone else is playing one too, so that gets negated. Say what you want about Temple, but Temple is way better now and should have beaten UCONN.
What you guys all fail to realize is the loss of those scholarships. Thats 10 more kids that would be at Pitt, PSU, Texas, etc, that are now playing in Conference USA or the MAC. Take a look at how well the MAC is doing now. Look at Conference USA, one of the best conferences in football. The Sun Belt has a win over Alabama last year, a win over Texas A&M, and lost on a last second FG to Arkansas. Middle Tennessee just humiliated Maryland. What I am getting at is the distribution of this talent now. Nobody is a guarantee anymore. Even UAB and Tulane look like they are playing a lot harder this year.

It keeps getting uglier and uglier. After West Virginia's loss to East Carolina, the Big East is just 8-7 overall. Dig a little deeper. Five of those wins came against FCS teams, two of the FBS wins came in overtime (Connecticut over Temple and South Florida over UCF), and the one non-overtime win over an FBS team was Pitt's struggle with Buffalo. The Big East is 0-3 against BCS conference teams, and if you add the Rutgers loss to Fresno State (at home, no less) and the West Virginia loss to the Pirates to the mix, the Big East lost its five games against good teams by a total of 157 to 48, or an average of 31 to 9.6 per game.

Another interesting take that I just read with regards to the PSU / Oregon State game.
Oregon State got $1.1 million for this game: $800,000 from Penn State and the rest from ABC who wanted to air a game between teams from two BCS conferences. Not a bad payday, given that it is a larger payday then most lower tier bowl games.
