Was looking at the tribune democrats page online looking at game reports and first one up was Portage. So I read about it and it seemed like a really good game. Then at the bottom the coach from North Star had his interview. He says and I quote "I knew coming in here that we wouldn't be able to stop this team they were to quick for us". What the hell????????

Way to have confidence in your kids man. I wouldn't want this guy as a coach. What a motivator for next week.

That's terrible, i just read that. Won't be able to stop a team? Do you think Oregon States head coach was saying that going into the game against USC? Thats just shocking, especially since North Star was also undefeated going into the game. Either the coach got his wording messed up, or to have that kind of confidence in your kids and your coaching is just depressing.

“I expected it to be a shootout and it was,” North Star coach Stacy Schmitt said. “Going in, I knew we weren’t going to be able to stop Portage, they have a quick team this year and they put a lot of points on the board. … We just came up a little bit short.”

Thats weak coach. Maybe you should look into quitting if you dont think you can win. Maybe giving props to Portage on the win and playing their hearts out is good, but dissing your own team like that, thats just bad.

If I was a player and read this article Saturday morning, I would most likely have a few choice words for my coach. I wouldnt even listen to the guy anymore if he didnt believe in me enough to pull out a win. Come on now seriously..thats just asking for trouble to say that.

The North Star coach said the same thing during his post-game radio interview on 93 FM. "We new we weren't going to stop them coming into the game." Yeah, I agree, what is up with that? Why even practice defense all week?

It was a great game to watch. Alot of offense, some good defense here and there. However, the officials lost control early and never recovered. The game was 3 hours and 15 minutes long!!! High school football, are you kidding me!!! There had to be close to 40 penalties called. It was ridiculous.

I honestly think J.L.'s crew was getting paid by the call.
