I see Mr. Dienart has already been somewhat reprimanded by his superiors. The article is now titled: "Is Penn State Worthy of Contention?"
Here's what some people have to say about Dienart's little article:
"In reading Tom Dienhart's column, it feels as if he has a long-time hatred against both Penn State and the Big11Ten. Maybe he applied to Penn State and other BigTen schools and got rejected by all of them. But, there is such a strong bias that I feel as if Penn State had beaten a better SEC and Big12 school in non-conference play, and the BigTen as a whole would have swept its non-conference slate, he would still find ways to justify what the BigTen should not be allowed in this year's title game. I can't wait until PSU renews its Alabama rivalry and gets Nebraska on the plate. But, with PSU's luck, they both will be in the middle of bad years and PSU will still be criticized for strength-of-schedule."
"Most of the B10 confrence does not like to consider PSU as part of the Big Ten, so why should Dienhart and the rest of the country. I say this because if PSU would have gotten 1st place votes from every Big 10 coach and all of the Big Ten media back in 1994, they would have been at least tied for #1 in 1994. Michigan got those votes in 1997. Just talk to any visiting fan at a PSU game and they tell you that PSU is not a true Big Ten rival to anyone, they are more of an after thought. So why should they get lumped in with Big Ten failures. Just look at PSU's bowl record. PSU always pull's their weight during bowl season. Give JoePa and his staff enough time, and they will come up with a gameplan to beat anyone, and usually do. Just look at his bowl record."
"Dienhart's article is ridiculous. I don't know how or why it even got posted. I was taught in my ethics class to leave your bias at the door when reporting and if you can't do that then don't do the story. I hate Ohio State, but I don't blame them for anything, Penn State had no control over Ohio State's performance except when we play. When I produce an article or do a broadcast I am a professional and I will pay equal respect to everyone. That is why i like Herbstriet so much, yes he went to OSU but he at least leaves his bias out for the most part. No one is perfect but an editor probably should have caught that mistake. Terrible job by Rivals."
"The Big Ten is 4-4 vs the SEC the last 3 years. Big Ten is 7-7 vs the SEC the last 5 years. Big Ten is 14-13 vs the SEC the last 10 years. 26 of the 27 games were played down south."
