I was out of town...Could someone fill me in on PSU/Iowa?

I was busy this weekend and wasn't able to catch the PSU/Iowa game. What was the final score? If I recall correctly, the last time these two teams met, Iowa hit a 3 run homer in the bottom of the 9th to pull it out, 6-4!!!! That won't happen with the Big Unit Darryl Clark on the mound, he can just pitch around the middle of Iowa's batting order.

I can't imagine PSU actually lost the game. I'm sure they won by at least 3 TDs and that Joe "Weekend at Bernies" Paterno was placed in the press box by Big Red, The Prodigal Boy Wonder, and Galen the Cheatahhh, controlling the incredible PSU offensive machine known as the "Double Secret FLUX CAPACITATOR/X-Box 360."

After all, there's no way PSU could've lost to Iowa, a team beaten by an absolutely horrendous PITT team. Pitt stinks because they lost to Bowling Green and gave up 54 to Rutgers. Wait, though, Pitt had Shady McCoy on the hill that day and he was throwing gas.

Oh well, Pitt will be going bowling, probably to that one Bowl about being a Humanitarian or Vegetarian where it snows and where the blue turf gives me motion sickness when I look at my TV screen.

I was thinking, I hope that the NitWit staff didn't leave Joe in the Iowa Press Box...He has to get back to the office (in his house) today...

I also can't imagine that PSU's QB didn't have a career day against that sssssssssllllllloooowwwwwwww Iowa defense. As TAE and other Nitters have said, "PSU does a great job developing QBs" (especially JAYPA), like that potential All-American Darryl Clark. I'm sure he must've had 30 completions and 300+ yards...

I also have to believe that Anthony Sciorotto dominated the game. The guy has played flawlessly and is like glue on receivers...He hasn't had a pass interference penalty all year. The guy is way to smart to ldo anything stupid, like leveling/tackling a receiver 2 seconds before the ball gets there on a 3rd and a mile play. I mean, the dude is a flat out bully and can kick undergrads in the head and only sit for a series in the Coastal Carolina game. He's a genius. I have got to believe that he's a late first/early 2nd round pick. Bet the Nitters are glad he BEAT THE RAP and is playing for them and not in jail!

Did PSU jump over Texas Tech in the BCS standings? I see the Nits matched up against Florida in the title game. All they have to do now is get by a tough Indiana team and beat MSU at home.

Any reports? Could someone fill me in?

The only time I EVER defended Jay Paterno was last week, when I said "the staff is doing a good job so far this year", which they WERE, and I said Spurrier never developed any great QB's either, as far as that QB's overall career.

TAE, you actually said:

"In a very rare defense of Jay Pa, name me a QB at Florida who went on to a great NFL career. So Spurrier can't develop them either, I guess."

TAE...Rather than defend the heir apparent, JAYPA, I would respect you more if you would've just said, "Clark is doing well within the system this year and that is because he has some talent around him." Don't defend JAYPA. He's incompetent and riding on Daddy's coattails. Just call it what it is.

JAYPA is a FARCE--He'd be selling insurance or used Chevys in Tyrone, Warriors Mark, or Port Matilda if it wasn't for daddy. He is a total JOKE, just like Big Red, Galen, and most of all, DADDY.

Can't wait until JAYPA is anointed "THE CHOSEN ONE." Don't think for a minute that Daddy doesn't want sonny-boy filling his shoes. If he didn't he certainly would've come out in FULL SUPPORT of Tom "Iwrite25handwrittenlettersperdaytorecruits" Bradley.

Now HERE is the REAL question: Why hasn't JOKEpa, in all of his power, come out in full support and unconditionally endorse Bradley, a dedicated assistant and coordinator for him for many years who has passed up several head coaching jobs, if he didn't want his son to have a shot?

I hate kickers. Does anyone agree with me on this? A team drives down to the 30, posts up with a timeout, sets the kicker up all nice and cozy, relaxed and ready to kick a game winner. Its the dumbest way to end a football game. Im not just saying this being a PSU fan and that being the way they lost, i have always hated to see a game end like that.

My solution:

Within the last minute maybe 2 of the game, simply take out field goal kicking minus PAT. How much more exciting would it be to see a game end with a hail mary, rather than a kick which is going to win the game 90% of the time. Most field goal kickers are accurate on every single kick they make, so chances are if you dont get a hand on the ball, you're going to lose.

The moral:

I hate kickers ending the game.

There's a lot more pressure on the kicker than on a quarterback that is just chucking one up for a Hail Mary. He is one guy and all the eyes are on him. That kicker was 1/3 on the season. I never thought he would make it. It wasn't meant to be for PSU. The football gods did not want another Big 10 team in the championship this year.

That would be like eliminating freethrows inside the final 2 minutes of a basketball game. Or eliminating a bases loaded walk to end a baseball game. "Make the batter swing the bat to win the game, it's not right to end it on a walk"

Absolutely retarded. Next time you get an idea like that in your head, keep it there.
