Big XII Title Preview.

I'm guessing that since you are reading this wonderful preview that you aren't one of the legions of fans who rightfully deserted the Big XII. You've got to either be an alum, a parent, or a college football egghead to be interested in this supposed championship game. Smell the ratings.
I digress.
Texas fans, if you won't take my word for it, then take Vince Neil's. The last track of 'Dr. Feelgood', one of the worst songs ever recorded: "Change, now it's time for change, now it's time for change!"
In a lot of cases, it takes garbage like this for change to come about. Change is coming, folks, all across the great college football universe.
Missouri versus Oklahoma, with all the Big XII marbles on the line. Winner is guaranteed a BCS bid, and for Oklahoma, it will be a bid for something a little more prestigious. Both teams have superpowered offenses. The massive favorite, Oklahoma, is of course led by Sam Bradford, a kid who came to OU virtually under every recruiting radar and is right now probably the leading candidate for the Heisman Trophy. Senior Juaquin Iglesias leads a deceptively talented wide receiver corps. Like his brother Enrique, Juaquin can dance if you ask him to dance, and he's done just that all season as he will cross the 1,000 yard mark about four seconds into this game, when OU scores their first touchdown. Bradford has been playing out of his mind. He is over the 4,000 yard mark, and has accounted for 51 touchdowns. But surprisingly enough, OU is anything but one dimensional. Sophomore DeMarco Murray will enter 2009 as a Heisman candidate, as he is already over 1,000 yards on the year. The number two rusher,Junior Chris Brown, is 12 yards from that same mark. 2,000 rushing yards and almost 4,100 passing yards is what an underachieving and overmatched Missouri defense gets to battle this week.
But the games are played on the field, and there's always a chance. The Missouri offense should have a bone to pick. Coming off that loss to an average, rival Kansas last week, you'd be hard pressed to even find a player's girlfriend who thinks Missouri can outscore Oklahoma. Maybe, just maybe, that Missouri Tiger offense will have something to prove. This season for the Tigers has been a major letdown after going into the year with 90% of their defense returning and Heisman candidates at the helm and on the wing. Southlake native Chase Daniel has fallen completely off the Heisman radar, and so has his go-to-guy WR Jeremy Maclin. The Senior QB is close to the 3,900 yard mark and has himself accounted for 35 touchdowns. Maclin, a sure first-round pick, has 11 TD's and 1,175 yards. Senior TE Chase Coffman, another future NFL'er with enormous potential, has 9 TD's and 875 yards. In the backfield is Sophomore Derrick Washington, who seemingly came out of nowhere. Washington is 37 yards from a 1,000 yard season, and has 17 TDs. There is obviously no lack of offensive production on this Tiger team. But like every other team in the Big XII...
Defense is optional.
Everyone and their long lost cousin is predicting this game to be a monumental blowout. Maybe they are right. But there's a lot of people out there who do not watch these games (they are called 'voters'), and they go by what they hear from supposed experts, who also do not watch games. You might as well send those ballots to Don Knotts and Count Chocula. The media loves Oklahoma right now, despite the fact this defense is just as questionable as everyone else. Missouri should have a chip on their shoulder, and this has all the makings of a great offensive shootout. Even so, OU's defense is a little better than Missouri's, and for the life of me I cannot visualize a scenario where Oklahoma's Punter sees this field after pregame warm-ups. And on top of that, with a month of recovery time between now and the national title game, there's a 0% chance that Bob Stoops calls the dogs off.

And as always, now that I picked Oklahoma, Missouri will win this game 9-7.
