Too bad they did everything possible to try to blow that 10 point lead with 5 minutes to go.... You just can't miss the front end of 3 one and ones.. They were horrible for the last 5 minutes, but they went on the road and beat an ACC team. Up next, Temple at the BJC on Saturday.

...Hey!!! Tear the goal posts down!!! PSU just won on the road. Amazing isn't it, that this is the only time Penn State leaves the state of Pennsylvania this season until January 3rd when they travel to Wisconsin for their second conference game. Read the pre-game article on Monday about Georgia Tech/PSU on BlueWhite Illustrated entitled "Lions Take Show on the Road" by editor Nate Bauer. Here are a few things he said:
1) "When the NCAA Tournament Committee sits down to pick the at-large teams to be invited to the tournament each March, the ENTIRE schedule is examined and analyzed to decide a team's worthiness. That said, tonight's PSU game against GT is a PRETTY BIG ONE as they continue through their non-conference schedule, for a variety of reasons". (Does Mr. Bauer realize that one sports service has GT picked to finish 11th in the 12 team ACC?).
...2) "The Lions are well-aware of establishing confidence and a FAR-IN-ADVANCE look at a potential NCAA Tournament berth. These are RPI games, they're important to us, especially games from a team that's in a MAJOR conference. Of the teams remaining on PSU's non-conference schedule, Tech is the MOST FORMIDABLE team left." ( Is this guy serious??? You're telling me that PSU's RPI hinges on their road game vs GT. I thought it was all those home games with Hartford, William and Mary, and NJIT. If it wasn't for the ACC/Big Ten Challenge, PSU would NEVER schedule a team like GT. Where's IPFW??).
...3) "A quick glance at the rest of the Lion's non-conference schedule after tonight's game reveals two themes: a) that Temple, Army, Mount St. Mary's, Lafayette, and Sacred Heart, none of who play in a major Division I conference, will give much of a boost to the Lion's RPI ,and b) the final 5 games are at the Bryce Jordon Center. ( NO, DUH!!!!).
...4) And, as Talor Battle said, "I think it's just a BIG urgency for us to go on the road and win the game. I think if we can win in a TOUGH environment like that, that will helps us down the road for when the Tourney comes. That would be a good win for us ON OUR RESUME and RPI and all that stuff."

After a week off for finals, the Penn State men's basketball team returns to action (at home, none-the-less) this afternoon when the take on the Lafayette Leotards who are in the midst of a 7 game losing streak. Hope they are not looking ahead to Sacred Heart, which is their final occ game later this week (at home, none-the-less).
