Larry Johnson Sr heading to Illinois?

LJ will be interviewing for the empty DC seat at Illinois now that Locksley took that head coaching gig. This is a category 6 disaster for PSU if he leaves. Let's count the reasons why he would want to leave: The pay sucks, unhappy work environment, absolutely no coaching stability, he is harnessed by Bradley and Paterno, and he has no chance of being named DC.

What does PSU lose? A guy who might be the best DLine coach in the nation, extremely perceptive at finding under the radar kids and making them monsters, a tireless recruiter who has 95% control of who the program brings in because the rest of the coaching is so lazy it is not even funny anymore.

Penn State has the laziest, most ridiculous recruiting approach in the nation, and LJ is the SOLE reason why the vast majority of kids even come to Penn State. They lose Johnson, its gonna be even worse than it was when they were going 4-7 or whatever. What has this staff done to make you think they'll make the right hire if he leaves?

He is the only reason that we get any recruits below the Mason-Dixon line. He personally opened up the pipeline of Baltimore and Washington prospects. If he leaves Jay better learn to leave his cell phone on.

This is all but a done deal. We can all thank Joe Paterno for his succession plan and long-term planning for the program. Those recruits will be calling Maryland within 3 seconds after this hire is made public. Thank God Bradley, Jay, and Galen are such good recruiters. Right.
